62. Leaders are created by the demands that are placed on them.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. Are the outstanding figures created by the demands of era when they live? The speaker claims so, for the reason that personal achievement fulfillment have to occur on a history stage. I agree insofar as that necessarily guided by core thought of times can one achieve one’s success. At the same time, however, apart from the historical propels some individual qualities are also indispensable for one’s achievement.
Admittedly, it is era they exist that provides a stage for them to show talents, play profound influence and acquire success themselves. After all, productive, economical as well as cultural situations that time determine the pursuit and goal in the society only through which can individuals be recognized by their contemporaries, that is regarded as leaders. Joan of Arc is a case in point to illustrate this opinion. This great heroine in history, who was born in a time when France was suffering the invasion of British military, in her childhood has ever witnessed infliction of people in her village and massacre of innocent people, all of which were caused by war. It is the time she lived that offer her prowess, belief as well as courage when confronting fate that enable her to lead the French people to fight for freedom, justice and independence.
Times, nevertheless, is by no means the only determinant affecting the achievement of individuals. Besides opportunities given by history, one must possess certain qualities to become a leader. Individual characteristics, such as wisdom, decision, and diligence, are also vital for a young aspirant to finally realize oneself. For instance, contemporaries of Joan of Arc also saw the disaster in France, yet none of them could replace her to become leaders. Even under the same situation, they failed to own the ability to give people faith and release their soreness. Therefore, no one could achieve success unless he or she has some virtues that distinguish him or her from the ordinary.
Ultimately, but perhaps the most importantly, it is unequivocally clear that one’s success depends on a combination of internal qualities and external conditions. Without personal capacities, one could not become an extraordinary leader; otherwise everyone in that period would be the great figures. Meanwhile if a person were deprived of chances and stages, he or she were still nobody no matter how excellent he or she was. An apt example in this argument is the success of Bill Gate. On the one hand, he was born in era where science and technology is highly advancing. On the other hand, necessary through industrious learning and unremitting efforts can he grasp exceptional knowledge and skills in the field of information.
To sum up, there are usually more than one factor to decide consequence of certain occurrence. As a matter of fact, everything has its internal factors and external factors. The optimal approach is to examine phenomenon from a diversity of aspects.
