让我来跟大家分享一下Eexcercise 8那篇比目鱼的神解析吧，原文中"for example, a flatfish's left eye migrated when the right optic nerve was on top, there would be a twisting of nerves, which might be mechanically disadvantageous. For starry flouders, then, the left-eyed variety would be selected against, since in a starry flounder the left optic nerve is uppermost.The problem with the above explanation is that the Japanese starry flounder population is almost exclusively left-eyed, and natural selection never promotes a purely less advantageous variation". 首先，分析其逻辑关系，从“for example……”到“ For starry flouders, then,"可知不论怎样，这两句话应该是表达同一个逻辑含义的，然后看到”problem"可知后面一句肯定是证明前者论述不正确的。其次，说明几个词的意思，“select against" 意思是不被大自然选择的，也就是disadvantageous; 然后从原文第一段“before maturity one eye migrates, so that in an adult flatfish both eyes are on the same side of the head"中可知 "left-eyed variety" 其实就是“right eye migrates",所以整段话的意思大概就是"比如，当右眼神经在上的时候，左眼移动就会导致神经扭曲，这对于整个身体机制是不利的，所以，对SF来说，因为它的左眼神经在上，所以它右眼移动是不会被选择的，然而日本却几乎全是右眼移动导致的左眼鱼，这和大自然从来不会选择一个不利的进化是相违背的。
