81(Q2).  All parents should be required to volunteer time to their children’s schools.

The author claims that all parents should be required to volunteer time to their children’s schools. As far as I am concerned, I partially agree with the author. I concede that parents act as the best educators for their children, however, the concerns placed on their children should be adequate, otherwise it may lead to serious situation.

Admittedly, parents can make significant contributions to the school education. To begin with, parents always serve as the first and best teachers of their children, having great influence on their children’s characters and mentality and becoming the model of their children. Together with their parents, children will keep in mind every word and every action their parents behave, and then mimic them. Thus, parents should sacrifice their time on children for their better education. Moreover, parents know about their children better than those professional educators, since it is their parents that live with children every day and night, which is inconceivable for those teachers.

Without the education from parents, students will possibly come to corruption. Devoid of a sense of self-discipline, some children are irresistible to most of the temptations. For example, children are likely to play video games while their parents are absent. Besides, the number of students in a class is too large for teachers to take every student into consideration, thus the students will indulge themselves, leading to some irremediable situation such as violence. According to a survey conducted by the China Education Organization, almost forty percent families send their children to boarding schools, where the rate of school violence is much higher than that in day schools.

However, the concerns focused on children by their parents should be adequate, that is to say, excessive intervention in their school time will surly bring about many side effects. Firstly, some myopic parents will compel their children to learn some certain subjects such as piano as their interests and never esteem children’s choices. Secondly, some parents will transmit the regret happened in their childhood, for example, they could not afford the tuition for a medical colleges so that they could not fulfill their dreams of being a doctor, to the anticipation of their children, even though children are not truly interested in them. Last but not the least, some parents are lack for some professional training in teaching others. In this case, they cannot truly understand the function of education, even sometimes obstruct the implementation of educational methods.

Overall, regard the children as a little tree, then the education of their parents can be served as the nutrition and water the tree need to grow up. If the nutrition and water is inadequate or excessive, then the growth of the tree will err from its correct path. Thus, what deserves attention is that parents should place adequate concentration on their children.
