Is it OK to send some questions directly to the e-mail you provided.   lease advise. About the interview, there are three choices for interview according to Ross school's website. First two choices are interviews on campus or over phone with people from the school. The third choice is interview with alumni. Jeremy, by your experience, do you think that there is difference between in person and phone interview, I mean the impact of interview to application. Also, from Ross school point of view, what is the primary purpose of this type of interview? Thank you.
B:
I agree with all A said about the interview, and it is so important that the prospective applicants should by no means take it less seriously. I will also echo that face-to-face interview method presents a better situation to exhibit the applicants' attributes such as inter-personal skills, and language capability for international students in particular.
Having said above, it will be helpful to remind the applicants that none of the interview methods carries more weight than others when it comes to the school's decision process.
A: Here is my understanding, and by no means official:
All three choices are equally evaluated by school without giving much preference to either one, hence one could choose whichever he/she prefers. The school takes the interview results seriously, regardless the method it conducted. The primary purpose of the interview is to assess the candidate's communication skills, maturity, understanding of the school, clear goal of his/her own career, clear grasp of past achievement, and strength and weakness, etc., hence, it is a very important and integral part of the application process.
Now as an interviewer, I highly recommend candidate choose face-to-face interview, whether on-campus or with alumni, because by that way, you can best demonstrate your ability and other best traits. But, again, this is purely my personal opinion, and you should judge by your own strength and preference.
Good luck,
(Thanks to both of them, who responded to my email around 2 am) |
