(offer to # of mba, or offer to # of applied).

Hi our earnest ambassadors, I shall be a late applicant for UMBS this year, but it seems still not too late for me to get your warmly assistance here. My questions are:

a. How could I get in touch with the alumni interviewers? Just found no contact means in UM website. I may arrange my interview in HK late Dec.

b. In case of online application, I only need to mail the original transcripts to UM. Right?

c. I don't know if my background is kind of unique for UM or not. My job is mainly to conduct overseas bidding process and subsequent contract negotiations. Say, I am in the int'l business field and my dept. is part of the marketing mechanism of the company.  Shall americans classify my work as marketing or business service or sth else? I am not quite aware of their conception.  BTW, I've done a lot of overseas business trips before. shall I highlight this in the essay?

d. Any Chinese students got UMBS scholarship or tuition waiver before? I learned Duke did offer that to Chinese applicants last year.

Sorry to bother u with so many "silly" question   TIA!

以下是引用Shuaishuai在2004-11-11 13:33:00的发言:

Please refer to this link: http://www.bus.umich.edu/Admissions/MBA/ApplicantInterviews/AlumniInterviews.htm#international

you can always find this kind of information on school's web.

b. In case of online application, I only need to mail the original transcripts to UM. Right?

Yes, you are right.

Uniqueness is not something derived from your job responsibilities, but from your experience. While your international traveling experience is definitely a great edge. You can hightlight it while not only by hilighting it, but by telling good stories about how your experience is valuable to you and how it will help you to contribute to the class.

As regarding the classification, you can define it by yourself according to what concentration you are interested in. I think your job quite much falls into the marketing segment, while you are doing the supporting work of the marketing department.

d. Any Chinese students got UMBS scholarship or tuition waiver before? I learned Duke did offer that to Chinese applicants last year.

Yes, there are some Chinese students got UMBS scholarship, but never heard anyone got tuition waiver. Michigan is not that generous in terms of scholarship.

Sorry to bother u with so many "silly" question   TIA!

Last year, deadline for first round was Oct 30. I think it is time
to  harvest for those early birds. Is there any good news to share
with  everyone? If you have any question on which offer to take, or how
to  deal with waitlist, post your question and we will try to give you
our  thoughts.

Several days ago, I talked with one of my
classmates, who is an  American. He told me that he rejected an offer of
another top 10 last  year and came to Michigan Business School. I was
really surprised  because in most Chinese's perception, that b-school is
better than  Michigan. However he told me, most Americans think Michigan
is better  than that B-school. He told me, like most other American
applicants, he  believe Michigan is a top 5 business school.
