As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.
As the technology has improved rapidly, humans increasingly rely on the instruments to solve the problems in industry and academic area. In my opinion, in this case, it does not necessarily mean that, however, the ability of humans' brain will surly deteriorate.
Admittedly, as the technology has dramatically improved, the people's inborn weakness, such as greed and laziness, constrains or even weakens the ability of thinking, and results in the accompanying troubles. For instance, the Internet, one of the most valuable inventions, makes it convenient to get the information and find out the solution to the problems in our daily life or in academic field. On the other hand, however, the Internet is utilized by the lazy ones to copy or embezzle the theory provided by others, resulting in the academic cheating. In addition, students would prefer to search for the answer of the homework on the Internet instead of critical and independent thinking by themselves . From this passive point of view, the technology turns out to weaken the ability of people to think.
However, on the other hand, technology, regarded as the most essential factor of productivity, ameliorates our living conditions in practice. For example, in the medical field, Attributing to the dramatic progress of medical treatment, people can be cured in a short time without any pain. Also, technology improves the life quality of people, freeing people from heavy routine housework and chores, which, in turn, enables them to spend more time in forming insight into society.
Moreover, as the technology develops, people may encounter the difficulties or problems that they have never met before. For example, scientist have started to study the microcosmic structure of virus, which benefits the later medical science and biology, since the microscope was invented. To settle these new problems, the inquisitive nature would stimulate the ability of creative thinking, which may lead to establish new analyzing frame or theory. As the scope of research has been broadened, more effective technology is needed, and as a result, the interaction between the human mind and technology would benefit the process of comprehending the world and also human ourselves.
insum, to evaluate the ability of humans' thinking, we should consider the basic object apart from the influence of the technology. No matter how the technology influences the people, humans' unremitting pursuit for perfection and development , a continuing discovery for the unknown world as well, indicates the brains of human beings have been working and never deteriorated. So it is hard to conclude whether the technology is disadvantageous to the humans' thinking or not. That all depends on what your object is and how you use the technology. |
