怎么还有差别吗? confused.

谢谢siebel, 不过为什么more than修饰the slaves,就变成了the slaves不是自己的奴隶了?

我想既然有定冠词the, 那么就限制了该名词是这个人的呀,

我想MORE THAN THE 500 SLAVES 指属于他的有500个,他不但将这500给放了,还MORE THAN, 所以多过的就是别人的了. 我对这个解释也无把握,猜的.

我想你把“the“换成“his“就比较好理解了。
the more than 500 slaves 表示解放的是他的超过500的奴隶；
more than the 500 slaves 表示解放的奴隶超过他自己的500奴隶；（暗示有可能还有别的奴隶）

我认为前者相当于连词，做比较；而后者是形容词，是多于的意思。
而此题并没有比较之意。所以是后者。
不过做比较之意讲，有点牵强。 但more than只有这两层意思。
所以当  more than 做形容词，修饰名词时，只能放在冠词或定冠词后面。

本来, 这道题, 我从第一遍看og的时候, 就不明白, 总认为小问题, 不影响.
所以托着到现在, 没想到听了大家的发言, 真是颇有收获, 原来这其中还有很多中思路.
