[question] After REJ from TULANE, just received a strange email

Since I'm in Australia, I cannot type Chinese. Sorry.

I was rejected by TULANE Mfin 2 weeks ago. but now I have received a strange email. I'd like to know what's it for, simply advertisement or hope?

Hello XUAN,

I hope that you are seriously considering Tulane's Masters of Finance program and will accept our offer and join us.

Tulane's MFIN program primarily trains students to be financial analysts who work as investment bankers, sell-side financial analysts, buy-side financial analysts, credit analysts, and risk management professionals.

To that end, let me highlight a few classes that you will take:

1. Fixed Income Analytics - study sophisticated fixed income analytics in a financial modeling environment utilizing Visual Basic Application (Excel's programming language). Recruiters will often test your modeling skills by asking you to build a financial model so this will come in handy!

2. Equity Analysis - create a sell side analyst report for a publicly traded company - this will be a nice report to hand to recruiters.

3. Options and other Derivatives - pricing and use of derivative securities, including forwards, swaps, futures, and options and application of derivatives and financial engineering tools to manage risk. This is a hot topic in the post financial crisis world.

4. Investments - study equity investments, portfolio theory: risk and risk aversion. Various asset-pricing theories are discussed.

5. Valuation - discounted cash flow, comparables, and option valuation techniques are applied in corporate finance settings such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, LBOs/MBOs, IPOs, and projects with cross-border or emerging market elements. The class uses business cases to provide practical experience.

You will also have the ability to take 3 classes in Energy such as Energy Accounting, Energy Economics, and Energy Markets and Policy and receive a Certification in Energy. This will enhance your job prospects as an energy industry analyst. I don't know of another Masters in Finance program in the world that allows this.
