5. C中使用”much"明显是错的，若将C改正为
   
6. as many as twice the apples it did
   
7. 是对的吗？
   
8. 现在C与正确答案B的区别就是twice 的位置不同。

个人拙见，twice是副词不能直接修饰名词
B选项，twice修饰的是many，为adv.修饰adj.， 而经你改过的c选项，twice修饰的是the apples，不符合副词修饰原则。

这个Ron已经在论坛上明确表示，这是一个疏忽，新版的Manhattan会取消这个论断的。

原话是： One of the prime uses of helping verbs in parallel constructions is to express the same verb in a different tense. ... If you use "did/do/does/etc." to stand for an action verb, then it can be parallel to any tense of that action verb.
