比较的是2个时期的economy, between 1990 and 2000 global economy vs between the beginning of agriculture and 1950 global economy，gmac比较搞，喜欢把句子弄的很复杂，所以把第二个between the beginning 换了个表达方式成了the beginning of agriculture to 1950，其实两个逻辑意思是完全一样的，而且逻辑意思平行。不太明白什么叫成分。

直接回答楼主问题，本句比较的是主语demographers， 属于自己和自己比（实际情况和理想情况比）， more可以做副词或者形容词，这里的more是做副词修饰KNOW的，另外know还用时间状语now修饰了

状语比较的比较从句是直接加状语的

其实我觉得 状语比较不是把状语做比较，而是主语谓语是相同的，所以直接省略了。（he run faster than （he do） usual）

楼主肯定又要问了， 为啥这里不能直接用now啊，那不是状语比较么，说实话，这个题我看了的时候也不是很了解，不过我估计是因为，如果直接用now ，有可能会理解成“需要了解的，比现在发生的还要多” 这个意思，是为了避免误解吧。。。。

哇！了解！状语比较就是直接加状语，是不是就像好多什么than expected这种。。。感觉那些像什么than estimated\usual就是一种固定结构似的

楼主太纠结了，能做对题就行了，比如：
GWD1-Q32:

A.have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic
B.have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
C.would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
D.would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic
E.would have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economical

B、C、E 中economical意思不对，排除；A、D相比D更舒服一些


如果你非想知道比的是什么，那只能说是比的know的内容了：即：have to know more than they know now (他们必须知道的比他们现在知道的更多)

恩，主要我语法就是比较超烂，基本做一道错一道，最近在整理GWD上的一切比较的题，就像每个都弄清楚到底怎么回事，不然还是会了这个下一个还是错。不过现在我懂了~~~~谢谢哈！

我觉得是经济自身在和自身比较，GMAT中，好像Between 1990 and 2000这种的放在开头，后面就一定要重复it did，但是如果The global economy grew more between 1990 and 2000 than between 1880 and 1990就用不用重复（这句子可能有点不太对，反正就是介词短语是在than前后的那种）。大全里有两道题都是这样的，我也不知道为什么。

是不是形式上要对称呀？？如果像more between...than between...取决于more than的位置吧。。如果是放在前面，就是the economy grew more than it did.

就像是more than左右都要特别平行才行。。

我觉得是这样的……我也一直特纠结一些比较的问题，有的可以都省，但又的就要补出……我前几天把大全的那些比较题都拿出来看，发现真的，想死……考点是判断比较对象的还好点，考点如果是省略补出这弄得我头都大了，后来决定give up了
