请问加拿大的SAUDER/UBC, IVEY/UWO, ROTMAN/UOT各自的特点

正在准备GMAT中。准备申请明年秋季入学MBA。LANDED IMMIGRANT。红着脸问各位前辈这几间加拿大的牛校的各自有什么特点,各自的specialization(培养学生的方向如何)。

I heard that UBC is somewhat a beautiful school, locating at the beautiful beach, while other than these, it is still not a fantastic top one.

Rather, IVEY shall be probably the best one for its MBA program. While considering its relative small school size, comparing with UOT and/or UBC, it is not so much attractive to me.

UOT might be a moderate choice, not only becasue of its talormade programs, but also its international reputation. Further more, some medial has just ranked it No. 1 of the top MBA in Canada in 2003 acadamic year.

However, still I am not so much familar with what exactly that the above three school's students specialized in, Finance? General Management? Accounting? or etc.

I think if you have little bit patience, you could easily get the information you need by searching previous post in this forum.

Generally speaking, Ivey is good for its general management field and uses more case study method, so chances are they will more tilt to more experienced students.

Rotman has very strong restriction on the academic part of the applicants, i.e: your GPA > 85, TWE >=5.0, etc....It is also very famous for its finance program.

Rotman has strong finance program and its location in Toronto is certainly a plus. For Ivey, you need to have strong communication skills since it uses lots of case study.

Thanks for all the references.

Any comment about UBC, besides its beauty campus? What does it specialize in? UBC now announce that it has five integrated core: finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, statistics, managerial economics and information system. It eliminate "supply-chain management" which still was on list last year.

Anybody can tell me what UBC"s MBA strong for? Nevertheless, it is still one of my favourate.

I am not familiar with UBS.

Are you in Canada now? If yes, I would strongly suggest you to visit the schools and get your feeling.

Try IVEY/ROTMAN/YORK/QUEEN'S. Personally, I think Rotman/York will growing faster.

tsljz, share your opinion.

I plan to land canada on around middle of Nov after I submit the application material. I will also try to make appointment with each school's admission office. I hope I can finish the tour to every school which I will be targeting at before mid of Dec before their X'mas holiday.

Seems that it is a long and costly trip. Costly not only in the money but also in the time/energy. Is it worthy of doing?
