在Mathatta 中的对于 Dangling Modifiers的描述是
If the noun we want to modify is not even in the sentence， we have a Dangling Modifier。
文中的例子
E.G.:Wrong---Resigned to the bad news， there was no commotion in the office。

Wrong---There was no commotion in the office，resigned to the bad news。

Right----Resigned to the bad news， the office workers made no commotion。 请前辈帮助解答下， 对于这个语法点不是很了解！！

个人觉得哦，主句的主语应该和分句省略的主语一致，也就是Office workers was resigned to the bad news才是合理的吧

这个语法点我自己起了个名字叫悬虚修饰语。

resigned to the bad news这个状语就是modifier,
状语是用来修饰主句的主语的，即使office worker is resigned to the bad news 不是"there " is resigned to the bad news

另外有个小窍门：除了主句之外的成分都可以看做是modifier，不同位置的modifier修饰主句中不同的成分，像这种处于句首的modifier修饰的都是主句主语。
