Every fall Croton's jays migrate south.  The jays always join flocks of migrating crookbeaks with which they share the same summer and winter territories.  If a jay becomes separated from the crookbeaks it is accompanying, it wanders until it comes across another flock of crookbeaks.  Clearly, therefore, Croton's jays lack the navigational ability to find their way south on their own.
Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the argument above?
A. Croton's jays lay their eggs in the nests of crookbeaks, which breed upon completing their southern migration.
B. The three species most closely related to crookbeaks do not migrate at all.
C. In the spring, Croton's jays migrate north in the company of Tattersall warblers.
D. Species other than Croton's jays occasionally accompany flocks of migrating crookbeaks.
E. In the spring, crookbeaks migrate north before Croton's jays do.

Kitchen magazine plans to license the use of its name by a line of cookware. For a magazine, licensing the use of its name for products involves some danger, since if the products disappoint consumers, the magazine's reputation suffers, with consequent reductions in circulation and advertising.  However, experts have evaluated the cookware and found it superior to all other cookware advertised in Kitchen. Therefore, Kitchen can collect its licensing fee without endangering its other revenues.
The argument above assumes which of the following?
A. No other line of cookware is superior to that which will carry the Kitchen name.
B. Kitchen will not license the use of its name for any products other than the line of cookware.
C. Makers of cookware will not find Kitchen a less attractive advertising vehicle because the magazine's name is associated with a competing product.
D. Consumers who are not regular readers of Kitchen magazine will be attracted to the cookware by the Kitchen name. 无关
E. Kitchen is one of the most prestigious cooking-related magazines.

The general availability of high-quality electronic scanners and color printers for computers has made the counterfeiting of checks much easier.  In order to deter such counterfeiting, several banks plan to issue to their corporate customers checks that contain dots too small to be accurately duplicated by any electronic scanner currently available; when such checks are scanned and printed, the dots seem to blend together in such a way that the word “VOID” appears on the check.(这个地方其实都可以不看)
A questionable assumption of the plan is that
A. in the territory served by the banks the proportion of counterfeit checks that are made using electronic scanners has remained approximately constant over the past few years 保持稳定,说明?

By competing with rodents for seeds, black ants help control rodent populations that pose a public health risk. However, a very aggressive species of black ant, the Loma ant, which has recently invaded a certain region, has a venomous sting that is often fatal to humans. Therefore, the planned introduction into that region of ant flies, which prey on Loma ants, would benefit public health.

Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the arguments?

A. Ant flies do not attack black ants other than Loma ants.
E. The use of pesticides to control Loma ants could have harmful effects on the enviroment.

A recent article stated that only 5.5% of American colleges grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts. Citing this, a reader wrote to lament that this was further evidence of the decline of academic rigor in American post high school education.

Which of the following is an assumption on the part of the reader?--答案C。
A.The percentage of American colleges granting liberal arts degrees would continue to drop.
B.All colleges should grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts.           C.Most post-secondary scientific, engineering, and vocational training does not involve as much academic rigor as liberal arts training.
      D. Academic rigor is the most important aspect of post high school education.  E.Of the colleges that do not grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts, many granted fewer than a quarter of their degrees in the liberal arts.

GWD1-Q13:
In the United States, of the people who moved from one state to another when they retired, the percentage who retired to Florida has decreased by three percentage points over the past ten years.  Since many local businesses in Florida cater to retirees, this decline is likely to have a noticeably negative economic effect on these businesses.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

A.Florida attracts more people who move from one state to another when they retire than does any other state.
B.The number of people who move out of Florida to accept employment in other states has increased over the past ten years.
C.There are far more local businesses in Florida that cater to tourists than there are local businesses that cater to retirees.
D.The total number of people who retired and moved to another state for their retirement has increased significantly over the past ten years.  难道说local  business 的生意在another  state也有做?
E.The number of people who left Florida when they retired to live in another state was greater last year than it was ten years ago.
