-The result of depression among chinese is similar to the result comes from the western people although there might be slight differences between each other. The study of twins found that more women tend to get depression than men. -In order to get the broader samples to investigate the genetic study, J. realized that the best place to collect such samples is china. The samples are most collected from women, whose four parents are Han Chinese only, and they found that these people are more likely to suffer depression than others. -Also, the scientists found that higher education tends to cause more serious depression in China, but Western people normally have the similar low level or higher level of depression corresponding to their lower or higher education. However, the study found that people whose parents are very authorative tend to suffer less depression compare with western study. Especially, people whose father are very authoriative are not likely to suffer depression. This result is different from Western study. -There is an example about Japan (don't remember) -Even though there are difference between the study result of Chinese and Western people, the cases which caused depression are pretty similar with each other. The possible reasons that caused depression can be dose use, child abuse, stress life events, etc. -A prof. from Fudan University claimed that the study of genetic depression can relive Chinese parents who always beat or hit their children when they are little.
