Having just taken TOEFL in Shanghai Middle School, I really need this article to have a second thought about myself, with little to expect the result of the test.
"Good fortune Peter, otherwise remake it." I signal my QQ personal statment with this sentence to bless for today's test. Well,so impressed, without fortune in the test, but only panic. I definetely have to rethink what I have done for the past days.
Firstly, I would like to cover a little bit about the live situation/circumstance. Having checked out from the Super8 hotel, not as super as supposed really, 5 minutes walk to reach the testing site, I found a lot of students had been there. Two receptionists stood there and was busy calling test-takers to tick off their names on a printed list. Checked with my passport, I was allowed to get in the hall of the building. One receptionist was coming out and asked me to read the notice on three stick boards, particularly pointing out that no metal stuff is allowed to take in. I firstly was led to a classroom full of test-takers. They were busy signing on the 3-pages confidential document. I was instructed to put my deserts and drink on the lectern and sign on the document with Chinese. after that, I was told to put my bag into a locker in another classroom, then I was allowed to the 3rd floor where the test room was assigned. Before I went upstairs, I was check by a device like the one in the airport. My room is 307 which neibours to the road outside。Not until I was doing the reading section did I realized how I hate this room, for the traffic noise came from the road almost had killed me. When I entered this room, I had to join the queue in which the tast-taker was instructed to check in. You had my passport check and was shot by a webcam. Then another teacher led you to a random seat. So that's how you go before you do the test.
Negative circumstance of the live site needs to be noticed. 1.Noisy traffic sound, teacher's walk, again and again as well as test takers'. 2.The narrow seat that I even find nowhere to put my legs, for every table is fully arranged 2 test-takers and especially it is very uncomfortable to use the mouse in the keybroad cabinet. 3.Additional test for listening.
Moreover, if you are sensitive to close invironment, I believe you will feel every action your deskmate do. Personally, I have another disadvantage is umfamiliar with the testing interface. For example, when the first reading article is presented to me, I would like to answer the question before reading the whole article. So when I click "continue" to show the first question, I nearly cracked for a pop-up frame message came out showing something like you are not allow to answer question before reading the whole article. For quite a moment, there was only blank in my mind.
My state on today's test. 1.unfamiliar with the software's interface 2.no test state; I can not fall asleep for the initial 3 nights of the last 4 nights. 3.feel thirsty in the test 4.panic when the live circumstance is unfavorable 5.can't concentrate both in reading and listening 6.unfamiliar with the commonly used words when typing the writing, waste much time in looking for relative words in the reading material. 7.can not fall asleep for the initial 3 nights of the last 4 nights. Surprisingly no sleey mood at all. Never like this before. 8.breakfast in KFC is a failure. 9.sexy voice from the ceiling floor for entirely 2 days is really make me crazy. What a Super8 ! 10.anyway I simled when the webcam shot me in the test room. Keep smile and show a smiling ghost-face next time.
The circumstance is tough, however, I have to say insufficient preparation is the main problem with me. My preparation began last year with no efficent progress. I did the reading practice most, but the Delta reading and OG reading are obviously too simple to match the real reading test. And listening and speaking are my Achilles' heel/shortcoming. Frank to say, the time spent on my listening and speaking practice is neither sufficient nor efficient. I am too optimistic to the TOEFL event due to past fact that I had got 710 on GMAT 3 years ago.
