-- by 会员 herminliu (2011/12/4 17:18:24)
这里是that。 The rate of foreclosure of owner-occupied homes in the northern counties is 75% higher than those in the southern counties 句子看的出来,对比点是不同地方的 rate,所以比较两边的比较点是必须保留的,也就是说:the rate of xxxx in the northern counties is higher than the rate of xxx in the southern counties 如果用those的话,前面的先行词是复数的只有是owner-occupied homes ,那么就是the rate 和 owner-occupied homes 作比较了,明显不对 如果再考试中遇到这道题的话,我会选择The rate of foreclosure of owner-occupied homes in the northern counties is 75% higher than that of foreclosure of owner-occupied homes in the southern counties 1. 2. in the southern counties内的东西能被忽略吗?
This sentence incorrectly compares the rate of foreclosure(of owner occupied homes in the northern counties) to those in the southern counties. A rate should be compared to another rate. In contrast, those is meant to stand for homes.
