问题：我知道答案选C 也明白原因

但是E选项 因为不定式to do前一般没有句号 所以这个错了而且明显没有C解释好
但是OG的解释“Although the infi nitive to protect would work
if it were not preceded by a comma, it
cannot act as a nonrestrictive adjectival
phrase modifying items.”

如果删掉逗号也不对的原因是什么？有哪位可以解释的更详细一些吗？谢谢！

删掉逗号也不对？删掉逗号的话这就是比to do 还是doing 的问题了比较原则就是看：是不是表目的，是不是表同时或伴随
我自己的看法。当然如果就出to do 或doing的区别显然有点刁钻了。在此题里也有些难以分辨啊。

∵如果没有逗号的话，则为“……essential items of military equipment to protect warriors……”
形容的可以是essential items 或者是 military equipment 会产生歧义

这种理解对吗？希望有人可以指教

我是这样理解的：
这句话的主语是shields, 而to do是表目的的，物不可能有目的啊。
但是要是把句子改成--> shields are used to protect warriors XXXXX。应该就是对的了。

我觉得是这样，句子陈述的是一个事实，事实是一种存在，是不能有目的的，只有动作才有目的。所以如果不定式在这里表示目的的话肯定是不对的。但是要是作为定语的话，我就不知道为什么不对了，也是很迷茫的说。

我在猜想 是不是因为：
items of military equipment
A of B结构，是的不定式to do没有紧跟所修饰词A（items），所以OG才说它不能做items的非限制修饰语

只是猜测， 希望大家能证实，或者举反例推翻·

呃？怎么觉得我想的这么另类呢……
不定式to do修饰名词表目的的时候都是限定性的修饰成分，如A to do B译作“用于B的A”，限定了“不是其它种类的A”，所以if it were not preceded by comma,it cannot act as a nonrestrictive adjectival phrase modifying tiems.

为什么OG上这句话我理解的是去掉逗号行得通。。。。
