A正确的理由是不是就是提供了另一个"C“呢,即是women cause both volunteer and longevity?

LS, pay attension to the last sentence : that statistic would be what we would expect EVEN IF volunteering does not boost longevity, . . .

If C is right, you still need a reason to back up the results of the statistic.

I think the answer is A

the question asks you to seek an ASSUMPTION  "because ...". assumption is unstated premise. moreover, this is a causal reasoning. Therefore, you should find a premise best suit the effect. Let's analyse the Effect step by step.
"that statistic would be what we would expect even if volunteering does not boost longevity"  is in subjunctive mood.CONDITION is "volunteering does not boost longevity". RESULT is "statistic would be what we would expect".
I think the key is to distinguish between " the statistic" and " what we would expect"
"the statistic" is "adults who regularly engage in volunteer work helping others shows that they live longer, on average, than adults who do not volunteer"
"what we would expect" is the conclusion draw from "When people engage in activities that help others, their brain releases endorphins, the brain’s natural opiates, which induce in people a feeling of well-being. It has been suggested that regular release of endorphins increases people’s longevity". Thus, the conclusion is the same as the result of the statistic. "people engage in activities that help others live longer"
We can think the Effect as a whole. " people engage in activities that help others live longer"

The best way to understand the Effect is seeing the main point of the subjunctive mood as modifying " what we would expect"

 Answer A suits the best.

B has nothing to do with what is discussed.
 C,D,E Out of the scope.
