Do you guys think 2012 will be a little easier than 2011 since the job marker is turning better?

I have impression that competition are more fierce for 2010 and 2011 than 2008,2009 etc.

Yes and no. It's about allocating my time and energy. If the situation is hash and I don't see a good chance, I might put more of my time in job hunting. Although I still love PhD's life style, why not go to work for some time, earn some money, than apply at an easier year.
Because I think PhD program is so critical in determining the future academic career.
