Don't just keep waving your offer. Be specific about your credentials (average as you claim them to be), e.g., the name of the liberal arts college you attended.
A liberal arts college ranked between 20 and 30...undergrad GPA 3.96, though I heard from multiple sources that high liberal arts college GPA is heavily discounted in PhD admissions, so I am really not sure how much help my GPA played in the admissions process.

haha, I totally agree with you, that's why I didn't really expect anything at the beginning. If there's anything that helped, maybe I was able to talk about research and my understanding of the field at a deeper level, and relate them to my coauthored research papers..
