it's always easier to find a job when you have prior work experience in the field.  Knowing how much Baruch focuses on finding their students post-grad employment, i would say it is definitely preferred that candidates already have relevant experience or at least the school can see potential in you succeeding in a quant career...

( remember, just because you can study well doesnt mean you can excel in a job ;] )

But as long as it has a high positive correlation, employers will always look at your school results

再提供一些附加信息吧，我们班现在就有一个同学拿了Cornell MFE奖学金最后没去的，还有一个被Columbia MFE录了最后来我们项目的。前2届还有被NYU math finance录了，最后还是选择Baruch MFE的。上一届还有MIT硕士来我们项目念第二个硕士的,现在这位同学工作于Morgan Stanley NY。
