想请教大家的是这里 and hence the bonding算是什么用法？插入语？为什么用and连接，却又不影响谓语动词的数？真奇怪！

说说我的想法：

我觉得从逻辑意思上理解，这里想说的是

the contact is effected continuously over......, and hence the bonding is effected continuously over.....

就是说the contact和the bonding都is effected continuously.....于是就二个放在一起，省略了后面那个the bonding后面相同的部分。我不知道这用语法术语怎么说，但我记得在阅读里这种现象好象有看到。

请指教。

从意思上说，我觉得完全明白是同位语做解释说明，但是语法上就是不太明白。

坚持想问清楚此题目是避免万一以后遇到类似题目且在此处划线，就会考虑谓语到底是用单数还是复数。谢谢大家！

可不可以理解为and连接两个东东但表示一个东东的时候，谓语动词用单数。

and hence---------的作用是和后面的without bonding 做比较，其实是一个插入语，不是什么同位语，有了contact,当然要有bonding了，所以就理所当然的用了hence

偶也觉得hence这里是插入语,主语还是contact

但是hence在longman里的解释是:

[sentence adverb] for this reason
The cost of transport is a major expense for an industry. Hence factory location is an important consideration.

不可以直接加n,而要加一个句子

所以我觉得这里的hence the bonding是hence that is in the bonding 的省略，故不影响后面的谓语.请NN指教

我认为这里的is that the contact, and hence the bonding是不是存在一种动作的承接关系呢,后者说是一种状态的承接呢?我看了一下HENCE的解释,由此,所以,因此,通常用在无动词短语中,比如,THE E TOWN WAS BUILT NEAR A BRIDE ON THE RIVER CAM,HENCE THE NAME CAMBRIDGE.

我很同意juan的解释，这是阅读里很常见的一种句式，如果A和B的修饰成分一样，ets就喜欢把两个先拿出来放一起，然后接一个单数的修饰成分，就好像：A，alsoB，is……这种感觉。这道题contact和bonding又有点因果，一个是比较具体的焊接点的结合方式一个是整个焊接结构（如果没有理解错的话 btw我不是焊工）如果前者×××了后者就也×××了，所以他们之间没有用and或是also 而是用了hence。
