中国人都不知道究竟哪些算TOP10

TIER 1的MFE（NYU, CMU, Columbia, Cornell,  Stanford），收的大陆学生是不是基本收的全是国内TOP10学校毕业的学生？

虽然没有公认的排名，但是大家心里都该有数的吧。突然发现忘记了UIBE对外经贸这家CMU很喜欢的金融牛校。虽然CORNELL没听说招过。

#1. Hi, can I ask how you guys in Cornell MFE get to the intern/full-time opportunities? By your program directory, school's career service by self networking or by attending the career infor session in Cornell and then apply on their website?
#2. What job function you guys are normally looking for? More IB or S&T.
#3. Many of students in Cornell should have no many w/ exp right? How you manage to go through multiple interviews and etc.

Regarding your questions,
#1. We applied on company websites for Asia Pacific Intern/FT and we do have campus recruiting system called CCNet by which we get on campus interviews ( Spring for Intern, Fall for FT.). For Asia Pacific positions, you might expect 1-2rounds of telephone interview and superday interview in NYC.
#2. Most guys( here I really mean guys~) search for trading and most girls sales & trading. Apart from that, IBD is also popular. Risk management, equity research, quantitative research are all possible job functions according to last year's record.
#3. Yup, you are absolutely right. The average working experience is lower than 2 years for sure. We attend info sessions, workshops for resume, cover letter and interview right after we came here which is really intense with heavy workload. For my case, I think I am just lucky. I phone interviews by one VP one analyst, both behavioral Qs. Then I got invited to NYC for superday. Still two interviewers (normary 3-5), two directors. They asked me about my experience, accounting, corporate finance, market movement, convertible bond stuff. Most of us will read two books to prepare for interviews: heard on the street and John Hull's bible.

我们PROGRAM大多都有过面试。海外本科的面的很早。一般是两个DIRECTOR中一个面，有个挺TOUGH的。主要是问你简历上不清楚的部分，在问问你MARKET。

请问LZ当年Cornell面试了吗？因为在PS里面有小吹，要面试的话，得好好补课去了

美国还是非技术面居多，waterloo和OXFORD都是技术面，而且比Baruch要难很多。

还是想问下sub的问题，我是SJTU金融的本，不知道考sub的用处到底有多大？你当时又是为什么去考的？

先谢谢啦～我去年11月考的SUB,对非数学专业的人申请MFE是很有帮助的，如果你考到90%+就基本被默认跟数学系水平相当了。。。我朋友就是这样去的CHICAGO。如果有时间，我建议你考一下。考完再着手申请来得及的。

我本科数学，但是真的不想学再学很专业的数学了，本来想考MFE，但是就怕还是数学。。。。所以想问你们学的东西很数学么？如果是，那是不是主要stats?还有是不是要programming很多？谢谢！

还有，我看你前面说有签citi的intern，请问是什么部门IBD么？还是说你们MFE出来都做quant啊？

MFE跟数学系的hard core数学理论比还是很不一样的。它更讲求实用。我们上学期最数学的课是STOCHASTIC CALCULUS, 其他都很金融。除此之外就是STATS和少量linear algebra. 都是应用层面，对证明都不怎么做要求，数学系出身肯定可以handle的。
如果你去CMU的话，programming会很多，CHICAGO要学C#也比较多编程。我们编程很少，目前只少量用过R和MATLAB.

我签的是CITI Capital Markets, IBD和S&T中间的部门。

I have never been to Thurston before. Maplewood is closer to Hotel School and probably cheaper. However, If I were you, I would choose off-campus housing...

mmm, every MFE program is so different. I suggest undergraduates w/t working experience go for schools like NYU, Cornell, CMU especially and only those who have working experience (or multiple masters or PhDs ) consider Berkeley MFE.--- my 2 cents
