[弱问+求助]有关Acc Phd申请的问题

好久不来这里冒泡了，碰到一个问题比较纠结，于是希望能够在这里得到一下指点，了解下现在的行情...
偶现在有意向申请acc phd，2012年秋季的，就是说下学期要动手开始送材料了...现在有几个问题比较迷茫：

1）当年的GMAT 只有720...据说申请acc phd不够...本来想重考的，但是看现在的Schedule和自己复习了一些之后的感觉，觉得时间很紧迫，而且二战能够达到750,560的可能性不是特别大...想说，是不是真的还是应该重考呢？老美看材料的时候，是会把国际学生分出来一堆从中挑，老美分另一堆，还是一起看呢？

2）有关research...目前还没有做过任何acc的research，也没有任何其他这方面的相关经验。想说申请phd是不是research经验很重要啊...

有关的一些背景：
本科不是学acc的，现在研究生换了这个专业，目前在米国
没有数学统计背景
GPA还能见人

大概情况就这样，希望大家指点一下，感激不尽！

try to get a really high score in GMAT.  this is very important for Chinese, because everyone's score is so high.  so if you are not high, you will be screened by the secretaries even before professors see you profile.

I don't think u need to retake GMAT, that is already pretty high.
Focus ur time on other stuffs to impressive professors

the cut off for international students at my department is 740.  most chinese and korean applicants have gmat above 750 this year.  it is not going to impress anybody, but that is a baseline requirement.

我也觉得720可以了，也许有个别 学校不够过第一轮，但是那么多学校呢，你申请中碰到这种学校的概率也不大，犯不着重新考一个。

GMAT果然是纠结的东西啊...我记得我问过系里的三个教授，两个说你如果不是非奔着Stanford去的，这分数挺好了。有一个说：挺好的，但确实高分能给你更多机会...><!!!想到某楼ls说用这些时间做些别的，但是可能真的还是没有参与到research的可能...

要求的gmat成绩跟学校好坏还真不见得有很显著的关系，更何况stanford也肯定不是act的top3。

难道除了做research就没有比重新考个gmat更有意义的事情了吗？考gmat这个东西基本上就是浪费生命吧。

of course research is important.  no one doubts that, but anything you say about research is total gibberish to even first year PhD students, let alone the faculty members.  


most of them are so busy with their research, faculty recruiting, administrative shit that they only glance over your CV, GPA, and GMAT.  there are more than 90 applicants this year.  are you going to read of them in detail?  over half of them are from mainland china.  only one chinese from Duke made into the second run.  there are simply too many to read...
