MSU with GA ($18,000/y) vs. Ivey

Got admitted by the two schools. MSU with GA about 18,000/year, Ivey with pending scholorship. Want to ask for your kind input about the decesion.  Back ground: ME with 9 years W/E in QA, R&D and SCM, New immigrant in Canada.  Career goal: short term- to obtain further experience from TOP 500 companies. Long term - work in consultant firm as professional consultant in the field of Supply chain or Operations management. Thanks in advance.

In fact, most Chinese MBA students of MSU are awarded to some types of scholarship and/or assistanship. Overall, the total 100 students are admitted to MSU MBA program, which is pretty small and about 30 students have financial aids. In general you have a chance to be awarded to financial aid, if you have strong career backgrounds in your area that may not be Supply Chain Management, your GMAT no less than 670-700 depending on the application pool and impressive esssays and interview.

zgs, what is the percentage of chinese students who can get assistantship? I am in USA and already in another school's program. i am thinking about transfering. Could you give me your evalaution of my chance for assistantship. My GMAT 710, three years working in an IT company in China. Master in EE in a US university. One year intern in a US company in MIS.

Hi Petalfly: In the classes 2004 and 2005, at least 80% of Chinese students have the assistantship. The transfer between MBA programs is very difficult as different business schools have quite different curriculums and they are always changing them from time to time. Anyway if you want to try, do it as early as August. Actually, your GMAT and working experience are great; but if you are here, it will be a bit difficult to land an IT-related job in Mid-West, even for domestic students.
