although I am not suprise that I got rejected, I did not expect the rejection come after interview invitation but BEFORE the interview...

I emailed them, and seems like they will not return to the office until 28 December...

Has this happen to anyone else?

Better than me...

I got rejected after I was highly recommended by my interviewer....

My friend told me actually I was rejected when I got the interview invitation, as I got the interview invitation much later than others, which means I was put in a backup position. Once they have admited enough candidates in my pool, I will be rejected. It's not a matter of how I behave in my interview, it's about how others behave in their interviews.

Let's move on, buddy!

sigh, the same to me... I had a really nice conversation with my interviewer, an American GM of Greater China
What I learned is that never put things to the last minute especially for the rolling application system...

Seems CBS selection works really like a corporate recruitment.  Fisrt come first serve.

Comfort to all...

Don't read too much into when you received the interview invite. This is pretty random. I got interview invites from two schools very late in the process and for one of the schools, my interview was scheduled more than 2 weeks after I got the intvite. but I got both offers and the schools didn't let me wait long after my interviews. So cheer up and good luck with the rest of the applications.

I do think when  we receive interview means something at least for CBS. When I saw so many people posting their admission news while I still have not received interview invitation, I kinda know CBS will reject me. It only accepts so many chinese students every year after all.

Yes, let's all move on!!

(ps. My "a Q spirit" says: I am not in love with Uris Hall anyway!! haha!!)

CBS is so ungeilievable....it's totally unethical to reject candidate before interview, especially when they give you interview invitation.

Well, wouldn't it make more sense for CBS to simply send a ding letter instead of an interview invitation if she had indeed decided to reject someone? I don't think anyone's been completely rejected if he/she has received an interview. To be fair, there are dead meat walking into interviews everywhere, but I will bet 1000 bucks that you would rather recieve a dead meat interview than a down right rejection. A school has to be at least somewhat interested in you if it decides to grant you an interview, which, believe me, does cost the school in some way.
