The Finance and Economics Division of Columbia Business School is pleased to announce the launch of a new Master of Science in Financial Economics program, which will admit its first class for September 2011.
The Master of Science in Financial Economics is a two-year master’s degree program that trains analytical- and industry-focused financial economists in dynamic asset pricing, portfolio allocation, corporate finance, and optimal contracting. The program aims to train students for analytical jobs with potential employers such as investment and commercial banks, asset management companies, consulting firms, and policy-oriented organizations. Graduates of the program will have access to targeted job search resources of the Career Management Center but will not be included in MBA recruiting schedules. The Master of Science in Financial Economics degree is designed for students who wish to pursue a more analytical and focused course of study in finance than that offered by Columbia Business School’s MBA Program, but who also prefer a shorter and more industry-oriented experience than the School’s Doctoral Program. Applicants who may also be considering MBA or PhD programs are encouraged to carefully review the academic differentials between the offerings to better understand the nature of preparation for post-MS opportunities.

Candidates should have academic preparation equivalent to that of entering PhD students, and should be fully prepared to participate in PhD classes and to complete a substantial research project. In a competitive job market, the technical skills and analytical expertise gained through the coursework component of a PhD program become increasingly valuable. A Master of Science in Financial Economics provides academically distinguished and industry-oriented students the opportunity to develop many of these skills in an intensive two-year program.
The anticipated application deadlines for the Master of Science in Financial Economics are:

• Early Decision: February 1, 2011
  
• Regular Decision: April 1, 2011

已发现了，问了他家小米，说是为PHD做准备的。。。。和MSF完全不是一概念

发现的一刻很兴奋，然后就晓得，不是我的菜，呵呵，Maruse已经说了，这个项目为phd做准备，人收得很少，估计难度不小

第一届招2-5个 最多可能稳定在6,7个 没有单独的研究生课 选修课空间极小 大部分时间和PHD一起混 PHD干啥 他们就干啥

目的是为了培养TOP20金融PHD项目的candidates 有志于此 又觉得自己实力足够的可以试试

当然 学费不会比MKT的五万一年低 那两年就是十万 仅仅学费就是十万……根据CBS的风格 还没法贷款……
