如果a period。。。是定于从句修饰a hundred year的话就对了，例如a hundred years which began  in 1788

但是作同位语从句的话，a hundred year不等于a period....,所以d 不对

不知道我这样理解对不对啊？？

不对，这道题ETS有很好的解释：

Choice D is awkward and unidiomatic, and nonsensically suggests that a hundred years is defined as a period beginning in 1788.

也就是说D给出这样一个定义，什么叫一百年？回答是开始于1788年的时期就是一百年，这显然是nonsensical的！

同样你改的也是一百年是起始于1788年的一段时期。

我理解你的说法，但是我觉得100年就是一个时间段阿，虽然有很多个100年，但是要特指开始于1788年的100年的时间段我觉得没错阿。难道one hundred years 与a period 不能同时用吗？如果同时用应该怎样表达啊？

哈哈，a period of a hundred years是可以两者都出现的表达，其实a period of xx years这个表达十分常用，记住吧。

所有的选项都用了a hundred years，用的都是不定冠词a，所以这里的a hundred years是一个笼统的概念，虽然我不主张改句子，但是这个句子要想不像ETS强调D那样，至少要用the hundred years that ... 这样一个定冠词引导的名词结构。或许这个改法也怎么合适，但是定冠词比不定冠词要好。当然，记住a period of xx years最好。
