strong background!  I wish I could have as strong as yours.

My math background is weaker than yours.  I'm worried too.  But luckily I don't have to compete in finance.  I apply for entrepreneurship.

retake your gmat first, math 50 is ok, although not high, verbal 32 is too low. Target school in top 20-50. If you can get a strong letter from TJ Wong, you may have chance at top20 school.

ai...... I don't know either. Actually, before that, I got 43 in math and 38 in Eng = 660.
but this time 50 math, but 32 in math (T!T)...... too bad

Re: gwendolinecn

Not at all, for PhD application, tons of people's backgrounds are much stronger than mine. For example, many people did bachelor and master in Math and they got high scores on GMAT too, and apply for PhD..........

What I can be better is just some accounting certificate and courses you took, but seem that university looks at advanced math much more than accounting courses.......... that sounds too bad.

把GMAT考高一点,top20还是有希望的

HiHi,

But I don't have a strong advanced math background, can I really still have chance for top 20-50 or even top 20? If so, I am very happy.

I was planing to do a Bachelor in Acc at BYU, but some accidence..... I asked my advisor whether I can take AICPA after my bachelor without a master degree, but she checked the website of AICPA and said I needed a master degree, so I did not take acc major at that time.

But then, I found that I could take a CPA with a bachelor and 150 credit hours only..... I wanted to change back to accounting, but the deadline was past. Anyway, I am not blaming my advisor. She had tried her best to find the information for me already.
Sometimes unexpected things happen.

I think 20-50 should be reasonable, do not be scared by those math or science major students without any econ, acc, or finance background ,they have slim chance in accounting PhD application.

I see. Then seem that universities in US still take into account the major accounting, finance, and econ courses and weighted them much more than advanced math courses, right? If so, it seems that the advanced math courses just have very few effect on my application. Just like "if I have = better, if not, = ok" right?

I think acc is very different from econ/fin in terms of expect math background. I've no idea what else do they value though.
