122. The spacing of the four holes on a fragment of a bone fl ute excavated at a Neanderthal campsite is just what is
required to play the third through sixth notes of the diatonic scale—the seven-note musical scale used in much
of Western music since the Renaissance. Musicologists therefore hypothesize that the diatonic musical scale
was developed and used thousands of years before it was adopted by Western musicians.
Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the hypothesis?
(A) Bone fl utes were probably the only musical instrument made by Neanderthals.
(B) No musical instrument that is known to have used a diatonic scale is of an earlier date than the fl ute found at the Neanderthal campsite.
(C) The fl ute was made from a cave-bear bone and the campsite at which the fl ute fragment was excavated was in a cave that also contained skeletal remains of cave bears.
(D) Flutes are the simplest wind instrument that can be constructed to allow playing a diatonic scale.
(E) The cave-bear leg bone used to make the Neanderthal fl ute would have been long enough to make a fl ute
capable of playing a complete diatonic scale.

31. A company’s two divisions performed with remarkable consistency over the past three years: in each of those years, the pharmaceuticals division has accounted for roughly 20 percent of dollar sales and 40 percent of profits, and the chemicals division for the balance.
Which of the following can properly be inferred regarding the past three years from the statement above?

(A) Total dollar sales for each of the company’s divisions have remained roughly constant.
(B) The pharmaceuticals division has faced stiffer competition in its markets than has the chemicals division.
(C) The chemicals division has realized lower profits per dollar of sales than has the pharmaceuticals  division.
(D) The product mix offered by each of the company’s divisions has remained unchanged.
(E) Highly profitable products accounted for a higher percentage of the chemicals division’s sales than those of the pharmaceuticals division’s.

59. In order to withstand tidal currents, juvenile horseshoe crabs frequently burrow in the sand. Such burrowing discourages barnacles from clinging to their shells. When fully grown, however, the crabs can readily withstand tidal currents without burrowing, and thus they acquire substantial populations of barnacles. Surprisingly, in areas where tidal currents are very weak, juvenile horseshoe crabs are found not to have signi? cant barnacle populations, even though they seldom burrow.
Which of the following, if true, most helps to explain the surprising ? nding?
Tidal currents do not themselves dislodge barnacles from the shells of horseshoe crabs.
(B) Barnacles most readily attach themselves to horseshoe crabs in areas where tidal currents are weakest.
(C) The strength of the tidal currents in a given location varies widely over the course of a day.
(D) A very large barnacle population can signi? cantly decrease the ability of a horseshoe crab to? nd food.
(E) Until they are fully grown, horseshoe crabs shed their shells and grow new ones several times a year.

80. Products sold under a brand name used to command premium prices because, in general, they were superior to nonbrand rival products. Technical expertise in product development has become so widespread, however, that special quality advantages are very hard to obtain these days and even harder to maintain. As a consequence, brand-name products generally neither offer higher quality nor sell at higher prices. Paradoxically, brand names are a bigger marketing advantage than ever.

(B) Consumers recognize that the quality of products sold under invariant brand names can drift over time.

In the country of Veltria, the past two years' broad economic recession has included abusiness downturn in the clothing trade, where sales are down by about 7 percent as compared to two years ago. Clothing wholesalers have found, however, that the proportion of credit extended to retailers that was paid off on time fell sharply in the first year of the recesssion but returned to its prerecession lever in the second year.
which of the following, if true, most helps to explain the change between the first and the second year of the recession in the proportion of credit not paid on time?
b. between the first and second years of the recession, clothing retailers in Veltria saw many of their costs, rent and utilities in particular, increase.

Musicologists therefore hypothesize that the diatonic musical scale
was developed and used thousands of years before it was adopted by Western musicians.
其中提到 musical scale was "developed and used thousands of years" 所以 重點是時間和使用 選項裡只有(E) 是強調這兩項

122. (B) No musical instrument that is known to have used a diatonic scale is of an earlier date than the fl ute found at the Neanderthal campsite.

59.
(B) Consumers recognize that the quality of products sold under invariant brand names can drift over time.

P 1:withstand tidal waves, juvenile crabs burrow in sand---->no barnacle population
P 2: fully grown, crabs could withstand waves----> have significant barnacle population
P 3: juvenile crabs in weak tidal region have no barnacle population.
Which can support p 3? According to OEP principle, we read the following choices.
A:could be a contender, remain to be considered.
B:Contradict to the P 2, because once the crabs are fully grown, they could hold barnacles on their shells.
C: out of scope
D: out of scope
E: contender.
Now, let's reconsider choice A and E. Why E is better than A? In fact, when first time encounter A, I find that A has nothing to do with P3, because it just provides you the reason why all crabs could have barnacles on their shells, but not why the juvenile crabs in certain area could not.
E in chinese means: 由于不断地长大,幼年的crabs要不断的丢弃原来的壳,长出新壳。In this way, the barnacles which should be held on the shells of crabs, can not stay on the juvenile crabs shells.
E provides the exact reason to  3.

the pharmaceuticals division has accounted for roughly 20 percent of dollar sales and 40 percent of profits
那么
the chemicals division for 80 percent of dollar sales and 60 percent of profits
(C) The chemicals division has realized lower profits per dollar of sales than has the pharmaceuticals  division.
