Young people should take different kind of jobs before they take a career in a long term.
In such a booming economical period, there are so many opportunities right here waiting for us and what people should do are to find out the most suitable one for themselves. However, sometimes, opportunity like double-edge swords which may unfortunately change into disadvantage factors that may lead people's to fail. In this case, people, especially young people when they leave school to the society should pay more attention. As a result, to rightly face such critical choices, some people claim that it is wise for youngsters to take variety of jobs before they take a long-term job. In my view, I believe it is a brilliant idea, but they should accept that choosing different jobs in a confined realm is the additional principle for earning my support.
It is no denying that taking distinct jobs has some merits for young people. First of all, it may let them learn variety of skills which could enhance their survival abilities. For instance, when I was in college, I had several different part-time jobs outside the school, such as working as a waiter in KFC, as a typist in a newspaper office and delivering files for a company, from which I achieved several working skills that give me more opportunities to find jobs after my graduation. What's more, young people can learn plenty of experience from unlike jobs. Whether success or failure in these jobs may help them growing up. As folk wise goes: “a fall in the pit, a gain in the wit”. Failure, especially for younger people, always can be seen as an indispensable factor in their career. Last but not the least, during working time, youngsters may meet lots of people then make friends with them which certainly could extend their social circles. There is a personal example, I made lots of friends in my part-time job places and when I left my working place some of my colleagues still got in touch with me as friends. In addition, all my friends from different working places often went together on the weekend and having a lot of fun. Because of these activities, my friends made some new friends, and hence the social circle becomes larger and larger.
What’s more, taking different jobs may help young people find out what they really good at and what they really enjoy doing which cost less time than directly take a long-term job. To better illustrate such an assertion, there is an example. Nowadays we always witness that a great number of people grumbling that how their jobs are boring, and how much they spent on their career but had nothing paid back. What are the reasons of these phenomena? I think the answer is before they step into their business they have not had a clear conception of their career: what they can do and what they want to do. Without such purpose it is easy to blind their eyes to find the way to success. Hence, as what discussed above, take different jobs indeed benefit people, in the mean while, accumulate energy for them to be brilliant in their future career.
Nevertheless, taking too much distinctive jobs without career system planning or selection principles could not benefit youngster' career even confuse their under-established career conceptions. To better benefit from taking different jobs I recommend young people to confine the job-selection list within some vocations which have connections to their major in colleges. Without these basic principles, they would bring their four-year’s labor in college to naught.
To sum up, I would like to cast a vote for the saying that young people should take different kind of jobs before long-term working. But, I want to add a qualification that before their job-hopping it is wise for them to work out some drafts for their future career. |
