今早收到一封e-mail:

Hsiang-Lin,

The Admissions Committee has not been able to make a decision on
your application at this time.  Therefore your application has been placed
on hold.  Our formal application deadline is April 15th, so I do not
anticipate that we will have an admission decision for you until mid-May.

Sorry for the delay.  lease let us know if you no longer wish to be
considered for our program.

这封应该不是拒信了...

耐心等等还是有希望的...

不过

谨慎起见，你在回信的时候可以在向他们确认一下...

your application at this time.  这句话的意思是：we have made decision on somebody else and extended an offer. Therefore your application has been placed
on hold.  这句话的意思是：but the applicants who have been offered a palce have not given us a answer whether they would like to accept our offer. Our formal application deadline is April 15th, so I do not
anticipate that we will have an admission decision for you until mid-May. 这句话的意思是：if one or more than one of them deline our offer, we will consider issue the offer to you.

Sorry for the delay.  lease let us know if you no longer wish to be
considered for our program. 这句话的意思是：if you have already got an offer and decided to answer that call, please let us know. therefore we may take next step.
