书本知识重要还是实践知识重要
What are the similarities and differences between book knowledge and knowledge gained from practice? In my own view, I feel that knowledge from books are highly systematic, scientific and comprehensive but not practical. On the other hand, the knowledge obtained from practice is actually very pragmatic, impressive whereas it is very limited. Given my understanding, I believe that knowledge from books is much more important and my three reasons go as follows.
The main reason for my point of view is that book knowledge is very systematic. any author of a book is an expert or professional in his own field, which determined that he has very good understanding of both the knowledge that he is going to present and the urgent need of the learners. As a result, an author designs the contents of a book in a very systematic manner and readers are able to easily master the knowledge. For instance, when I pursued my business study at laceName>McGilllaceName> laceType>UniversitylaceType>, all business textbooks were arranged in a manner that easier contents always preceded the more difficult ones. This arrangement enabled me to lay a good foundation from the very beginning and take the academic challenges in a gradually way and make me obtain good grades through systematic learning.
The second reason for my view is that book knowledge is also extremely scientific. The publication of a book needs not only the rich experiences of the authors, but also the close examinations of editors and publishers, thus ensuring the academic quality of the book and eliminating unnecessary errors. During my study at laceName>McGilllaceName> laceType>UniversitylaceType>, whatever book I open, I could not find any mistakes that were contained in the book. The complete correctness of formulae, theories and principles in financial accounting and operation management enabled me to learn the expertise scientifically and need not to worry about any problems that could have occurred via practice.
Last but not least, I believe that knowledge from books is far more comprehensive than that from practice. Not all the people are able to obtain their needed skills or know-how from practice whereas books are sometimes their own source to obtain experiences. For instance, most historians simply cannot go back to the history to experience the battles of the Second World War and the exciting moment in the foundation of the United States. What they can do is only to read a great volume of historical journals, papers and books in order to enrich themselves in those historical affairs and carry out researches based on the knowledge from the books.
In summary, I strong prefer the knowledge from books to the knowledge gained from experiences since book knowledge provides a significant number of advantages. Any students should definitely attached great importance to books and benefit themselves from reading more publications to broaden their perspectives on the world.
