U of Arizona or Rutgers-NJ State U

The ranking is both in tier 3 in Businessweek,

and similar in 2004 usnews ranking.

But according to latest usnews ranking, Rutgers downs to 77th but UA ups to 35th.

Actually, I don't think Rutgers is as bad as the ranking shows.

Usnews raning is a little tricky though.

They are totally different schools, including location, campus, weather, and life style.

Rutgers is within half hour by transit to NYC and UA is located in Tucson, AZ, a dessert area.

Could anyone give me idea?

This is yihang's 1st post. Congraduations for 新手上路!
In my understanding, the ranking is not very important after top 20 or 30. Both universities are recognized by most US people. It hard for your future employer to determine which one is better. I would suggest Rutgers. It is within 1 hour's traffic to NY and there are many Chinese people living in NJ.  It's helpful for you to learn more info and search job. In addition, you can buy almost any Chinese food as in China.

sorry to come back late. UA accepts a lot of chinese students every year, but the placement is not that great. I know three Chinese people got their MBA from there, but working at non-management related job. but if you have a plan to go back to China right after graduation, it is another story. in that scenario, ranking is very important.

Thank you very much for your reply... But I have asked the second grade student about the ratio in races. There are about 3 Chinese students total out of 10 Asian students.. seems not that many ...

Besides the stories you shared, did your friends satisfy with UA?? What else opinions do they have?? (thank you thank you!! I really need some advice..

well, obviously, nobody will say that they regret putting money in a degree. As I said before, the difference in classes between good schools and average schools are very minimal. you should find a great learning experience in UA as well. I just talked to her recently. Phoenix is booming recently, maybe these days, UA graduates in a hot commodity. I don't really know. but back in the old days. because of the location, many people have difficulties to look for jobs in California.

I know 4 Eller graduates including my ex-roommate who got their MBA/MS from Eller during 2000 - 2002. 1 MBA couldn't find a job within 1 year. 1 went back to school to pursue PhD after getting the axe. 1 got laid off and went back to her home country. My ex-roommate still has a job. Their starting salaries were too low to be true.

Thank you 'ALL' for your exp.sharing!!

Therefore, based on 1. "soso" career placement and 2. low starting salary, UA is needed to be seriously considered??

However, is it possble that you can ask you friend what's the rough percentage of people who were offered job in the first year or after graduation from UA? How does she feel about the library resources and research accessibility??

Thank you!!!
