一点点小小的建议，这个题目是要我们提供方式，而不是内容。然后前后参考便可以得到答案了。

事隔几月，终于弄懂了这道题。。哎。。这上考场怎么行啊。。。

首先搞懂bottom line的意思，是账本底线、最终收益的意思，这句话的意思就是 即使这种策略的收益微乎其微，管理层还是不肯放弃这个策略。

再看题目，evidence for... is provided by ?  也就是问这个策略微乎其微的收益是通过什么表现出来的，正如楼上所说是选方式而不是内容，原文中提到与收益有关的也就这句  Clearly price promotions are generally run at a loss, otherwise there would be more of them.  也就是说price promotion越多，损失就越多，所以是通过  B.the frequency with which price promotions occur 来表现的。。

不知道说清楚了没。。哎。。

然后就算不知道A）意思，根据B意思也是可以推测的：

"Clearly price promotions are generally run at a loss, otherwise there would be more of them."
注意这里的虚拟语气，说明是一个很本质的原因，其原因根本性应联系bottom line的概念。结合这一句，可推出后面的"effect on bottom line"是指可以反复使用promotion的频率，毕竟涉及到消耗大量的潜在利润，逼近break-even这个bottom line
