The place is perfect for student couples, or family with small kid. You can
save quite some money comparing with renting an apartment.

For those unfamiliar with Allendale Circle, it is a company-owned townhouse
complex. Every unit is the shareholder of the company. The company owns the
house, but the shareholders live here. Therefore, we do not need to handle
the property tax. The company maintains the house, all you need to do is to
make a phonecall if something breaks down. You pay a monthly carring charge
at $375. And of course, the electricity bill, phone bill, and whatever you
have. The heating uses gas but it is free, so you do not need to worry about
the heating fee in the winter. There are more than 30 Chinese families in
the community. Most are students or sholars. Basically you buy the share to
move in, and sell your share when move out. Transportation is convenient.
Bus 100 stop is only 5 min away, and takes you directly to downtown,
shadyside, and oakland.

My unit has 1.5 bathrooms, with balcony and basement. Half of the basement
is furnished, and designed as a 3rd bedroom originally. The sliding door in
the basement faces the woods behind the house. We replaced the carpet in the
living room with good quality vinyl floor purchased from Costco. The
refrigerator and the stove oven were both replaced with brand new items this
year. The unit is off the street, with a small but safe courtyard in front,
perfectly for kids to play outside. The house is very quite, with a great
view from the balcony.

连house都有可能可以买。只不过如果你一两年内就要买进卖出的话，交易成本也不低（大概房价的7～10％），还不如租房来得方便。

包括税，包括手续费、中介费。
