· Having a previous masters level degree doesn’t hinder your MBA application here but I would be sure to explain why you want to continue your education.
· The average age of an MBA student is 28 but the range includes 24 to 40+ so your being 37 would put you at the older range, but certainly not outside the consideration set.
· In the past few years, it has become increasingly difficult for international students to find jobs here in the US. If a student wanted to return to their home country, we would have a high likelihood of helping them get a great job as many of our US-based CPG firms would like to hire a Nielsen student for their international divisions. Specifically:
o The class of 2008 had 3 international students. 2 of which found jobs in the US, one is still seeking
o The class of 2009 had 2 international students. Both of which are still seeking.
o The class which will graduate next May – so class of 2010 has 3 international students. All of which are still seeking.
Again – if these students decide to seek employment in their home countries – there would be more opportunities.
So while your stated plan may be possible, I would also encourage you to consider going back to your home country for employment post-MBA as that may be a more successful path. Just a suggestion, but I would suggest discussing your employment plan in your admissions essays.
