Sorry for being late to share my interview experience due to my back-to-back schedule last week.

I finished the interview on Oct 5th. A pretty nice chat with one alumni in Shanghai who is a Singaporean working on equity analysis. Most of the questions are regular. I post below a list of questions he asked me. Hope it may help.

1.     introduce yourself

2.     career plan

3.     why MBA & why Columbia

4.     something you know about Columbia

5.     any example which can illustrate your innovation (because I claim that I’m a innovative person)

6.     difference between sales and marketing (which are two areas I’ve worked on)

7.     some substantial difference between the two companies I served before? And which style you identify with more?

8.     What was the reason for your to leave your previous company?

9.     Your leadership style

10.   ethical dilemma

11.   What you do in free time

12.   Any crazy/adventurous thing you did

13.   Your definition of success? Are you more result-oriented or process-focus?

14.   Your understanding on Value Investing (which I show strong interests in)

Since the interviewer had to go for a business trip after interview, he submitted the report last weekend. Today I checked my email and got the notification saying that the decision was given. Logged on the application system and got the letter from the admissions committee, saying that "Congratulation..."

Sorry for the late update, just got CBS notice: accepted!


interview request on 9/24, interview on 10/6, interview completed on 10/14, decision made on 10/15

    


The interview went well with an alumnus of class 89. We met at Sheraton
Hotel, interviewed taken place in the lobby. The whole process was
relaxed and conversational, last about 1 hour.

    


Here are the interview questions to share with you:

    


1. Introduce your background

    


2. Why MBA? Why Columbia?

    


then she jumped to ask me if I have any question for her, I prepared
4-5 questions regarding to how CBS help her achieve her career goal,
her study at CBS etc...

    


3. She looked back to the sheet, and asked if I met any challenge at work?

    


4. Why I chose my current company?

    


5. How's my leading and teamwork style?

    


6. Since I had only a few years WE, she asked me why now?

    


At the end, she told me submit feedback next week and only 40% being
interviewed were finally get accepted by CBS. I was a bit worried. Last
week, there might be technical problems for CBS interview systems,
cause my interviewer submitted while my status still showed "interview
scheduled".  So I contact my interviewer and she helped me re-submitted
it yesterday. Today I got the decision. How fast is the turnaround...
