Nowadays, more and more people choose to go to colleges or universities to pursue their further education. Why? According to my understanding, there are at least two principal reasons.

For one thing, it is a common view that education is a kind of good investment in one’s life because it will always repay you with better career, more money, and higher social status and reputation. A majority of people regard education in college or university as the best way to prepare their future careers. As the average education level is promoting all over the country, the average job qualification for candidates who want to join famous or big companies is increasingly strict than ever before. As you know, it will be very difficult to obtain a decent job with relatively high salary if you don’t have a strong education background under stiff social competition.

For the other thing, some people choose to attend colleges and universities for knowledge and self-improvement. Usually, these people already have engaged in admirable work and they need not a further degree to solely help them get better career development and richer income. Especially, some old people who have retired from their careers also go to colleges and universities just for knowledge and self-improvement. For example, some people over 60 years old retired in China study English in colleges or university so that they can communicate with overseas friends visiting China.
