我觉得这道题的结构很晕，我是这样分析的：

The single-family house (主语)constructed by the Yana, a Native American people who lived in what is now northern California, was conical （谓语）in shape, its framework of poles overlaid with slabs of bark, either cedar or pine, and
                banked （应该是与谓语并列啊） with dirt to a height of three to four feet.

如果选A，句子结构就是banked与overlaid并列了。

这里的and到底连接的是哪两个分句？句子结构有歧义。

如果从句意来看，我觉得两种理解都是可以的。

我认为这里的过去分词banked是和overlaid并列，修饰framework，虽然从语法上来说（,and）的结构既可以和主句宾列也可以和后面的独立主格并列，但是从逻辑层次上来说跟主句并列并不好，即便不能从并列层次上区分，分析D，E选项也完全可以从语法上将其排除，只剩下和独立主格并列的可能。

恩，这道题目从逻辑上对于我们没有专业背景的人来讲很难判断was banked(D选项)跟was concial平行还是banked与overlaid平行.但是可以把选项narrow到A和D之间，以前做过的题目如果后面是跟数字一般来讲还是用to a height of这样的形式，或许这是gmat出题的一个惯例吧，如果不是比较就不用比较，这样比较“中性”.

我个人认为，banked应该是跟overlaid平衡对称。因为主句中谓语动词was后边是形容词 conical，是说这个房子是圆锥形状，划线部分banked（把……堆积起来）是个过去分词，形容词跟分词不能构成完美的平行对称关系的。而banked与过去分词overlaid在字义和语法形式上都对称，可以构成标准的平行对称结构。

不知我讲得清楚否？

我个人认为，banked应该是跟overlaid平衡对称。因为主句中谓语动词was后边是形容词 conical，是说这个房子是圆锥形状，划线部分banked（把……堆积起来）是个过去分词，形容词跟分词是不能形成平行对称的。而banked与过去分词overlaid可以构成标准的平行对称结构。

这样也可以判断一下bank和谁对应
