申请到好的MBA(我理解是TOP的)会很难.

I too know at least 10 people who are doing the Harvard Kennedy
School/Wharton MBA dual degree (after all, they are my classmates!).
This is not a small investment, especially at this early stage of your
life when you may not be sure what you want to do. Generally, they take
up this course because they want to learn about policy and about
business at the same time- and more importantly, pursue careers in the
space (eg. Political consulting, commerce ministry, etc). If that suits
your goal, go for it.

There are many other dual degree
programmes out there. At Wharton there is MBA/MA from Lauder (International Business), MBA/MA
from SAIS (Government and Business), MBA/JD (Law), MBA/MD (Medicine), and so on. While you do
have an interesting background (that looks a lot like mine, actually),
the one MOST IMPORTANT question you must ask yourself is, where do you see your career
going? What is the job you want to do? For most people, they're not
sure, which is why working a few years to clarify their career goals before the MBA makes sense. For
myself, I was sure of my own goals, and so thought that going to
business school was the right choice right away. So for instance, if
you want to be a journalist, then perhaps a Masters in Journalism makes
a lot more sense than MBA. Especially when you want to get into
business school without working experience, you must almost have a
lazer like (very clear) focus on what exactly you want to do in your
career- using the MBA to 'open your options' is just not the way it
works, particularly straight out of college.

As for whether
students- like you and I- without working experience can contribute to
class, I can tell you that I'm having no problems. In fact, because my
internships were in strategic functions, I've found myself able to
contribute better in classes than some ex-engineers with no business
background. In addition, while drawing on the experience of your
classmates is useful, in fact an ex-consultant for instance would not
be taking strategy. What this means is that the people with the best
experience in the subject often aren't taking the class with you. After
all, the reason your classmates are taking the class primarily because they (like you) lack the skill,
and want to learn it. So basically most people know little or nothing about the subject, and as long as you learn quickly and are sharp,
you'll pick things up fine. One reason schools require GPA/GMAT
calculations is exactly for this: to determine if you're going to pick
up the material well.

Good luck! I remember in 2007 I went
through the same process as you, and after clarifying my career goals
(I too was deciding between journalism school, economics and business
school) I chose to go get my MBA, and I've not regretted it ever since. You only have one chance at an MBA, and sometimes taking a few years to decide whether it's right for you is a good call. Sometimes, though, going straight to business school is the right option =)
