4. pronounce后面不能有it，pronounce实际宾语是前置的关系代词that所指代的"a work"。pronounce的用法是pronouce+A+B.( CDE都错了）。这句话正过来是：SJ pronounced (Pope's work) the greatest translation....

A还在that,后面加上taking就比较离谱了。

A 两个"that"后面有不平行的问题，可正确的答案B 中的两个that 后面的内容也不一样啊 怎么就没有了不平行的问题了呢？

LSMM,A中的a work that 后面是逗号加...加逗号，可以看做插入语，那么去掉插入语就变成了 a work that and that，这样怎么会对呢~

我觉得好象这样,意思更翻的通:

In 1973, Alexander Pope began his translation of the lliad, a work that took him seven years to complete

and (Alexander Pope began his translation of ) that  literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, (which is )

pronounced the greatest translation in any lauguage.

也就是说后面那个that 不是引导一个定语从句, 而是和前面the lliad平行, 与the lliad共同作为整个句子的宾语, 中间and 连接.

后面的prounced the greatest translaion in any language. 作为修饰that  literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary,的一个定语从句, 并省略了which is .

翻译大概是:1973年, Alexander Pope 开始翻译the lliad ,一部花了他7年时间才完成的作品, 和that  literary critic Samuel Johnson,  一部pope 的当代作品, 且被称为是最伟大的翻译.

and that既然和前面的that平行，那么就是作定语从句，that指代work。而且，去掉逗号间的插入语你加的which is明显是多余成分。which指代什么？你不要和我说指代contemporary。

对, 那么明显,简单的语法结构, 我当初第一眼看,就是按 和前面that 平行来理解.

这个是不是指, pope的一部当代作品?

就是说 Pope's contemporary, 宣称the work 为最伟大的翻译  

我不知道这样的翻译,是否顺畅, 意思理解好象有问题.

我一开始, 就是理解2个that 平行.  但从句子翻译的层面上, 我觉得有点不舒服.

literary critic Samuel Johnson ,  这个是文学批评家 samuel johnson, 么? 看上去是一个人,

对, 如果是文学批评家 samuel johnson,  那么句子意思就很顺畅了,  "文学批评家 samuel johnson

宣称pope的翻译最伟大",  但,文中为什么又在literary critic Samuel Johnson  后面加个Pope's contemporary???


Pope's contemporary,  是不是对literary critic Samuel Johnson  ,的补充说明? 翻译成pope的当代作品?

那literary critic Samuel Johnson,  是人还是作品呢?

我不知如何去理解.
