Pictorial dictionary (object, gift)

The book I’m gonna talk about is a pic`torial dictionary which I got two years ago. I think it’s really interesting. One great thing about it is that I can study many new things in all kinds of areas: physics, chemistry, astronomy and so on. Also, the dictionary explains everything in four languages, namely, English, Chinese, French and Japanese. So, I could learn how to say the same thing in four different languages and that’s cool. In addition, there are a great many beautiful pictures in it. With those wonderful pictures, learning can be real funny and easy!

 

2. Describe the most important decision you made in your life.    05.12.2

Tour guide (career, decision, future, objective)

(I decide to become a tour guide when I graduated from college and I guess this is the most important decision in my life). One great thing about this job is that I can travel to a lot of countries and visit the famous places of interest all over the world: Statue of Liberty in America, Eiffel Tower in France, Pyramid in Egypt, you name it. Also I could learn a great many languages while I am working, English, French, Japanese and so on. More importantly, I would be able to make friends with the people around the world and get to know about their customs, cultures, histories and a lot of other interesting stuff.

People’s park (place)

(In my spare time, I often go to the People’s park in my city.) One great thing about it is its pictu`resque view and enjoyable surroundings. Having a walk beside the lake, I can smell the grass and the flowers, hear the birds and feel the breeze on my face. All of these can help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. Also I could make friends with the people in the park, especially those who come from over`seas. During the conversation with the foreigners, I can practice my English and perhaps learn something about other languages like French, Spanish, Japanese and so on. Now you can see, the park is heaven to me. haven

(In addition, the restaurant of the park serves amazing dumplings, which are made by secret recipe. And they’ve got all kinds of delicious flavors: beef flavor, pork flavor, chicken flavor etc. They never fail to make my mouth water.)

Hard-won a basketball game in high school (Event).

The event I’m gonna talk about is a hard-won basketball game when I was in high school. Our team was thought to be the underdog because we were not only much shorter but also less experienced than our opponents. However, we didn’t chicken out, we didn’t give up. Instead, we kept fighting hard with great determination. We played some excellent teamwork and finally won the game by one point. This game is really meaningful to me because I’ve learned two important things from it. First, you’ve got to have faith and courage; second, teamwork and cooperation are often the keys to success. United, we stand.

 

 

Cen`tennial ceremony of our university (ceremony, celebration)

The event I’m gonna talk about is the cen`tennial ceremony of our university last year. It was incredible. I saw the school leaders, a lot of a`lumni and many special guests, including some famous scientists. Besides, the school gave us a three-day vacation. So we didn’t have classes and it helped us relax and relieve the pressure from study. More importantly, some ce`lebrities were invited to give us a performance right on campus. There were all kinds of programs: singing, dancing, comedy, opera, and so on. (And we were even more excited to see that some of our schoolmates from the college of art were also in the show.) This centennial was just fantastic and so unforgettable!

Mid-autumn festival

My favorite time in a year would be the Mid-autumn festival, which falls on August 15th according to the lunar calendar. One great thing about this day is that I can stay at home since that day is a holiday. We don’t need to go to work and study. Another point worth mentioning is the relaxation on this day, walking in the woods, watching the bright moon, all of these help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. In addition, it feels so great to have those amazing moon cakes again after a whole year waiting. And I can enjoy the cakes with the whole family because the main theme of Mid-autumn festival is family reunion.

Magazines

(….) One great thing about magazine is that there are a great many beautiful and delicate pictures in it for the description. With those wonderful pictures, reading can be real fun and easy. Also some stories and reports in the magazines are extremely funny and could definitely help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. In addition, the themes in magazines are mostly fashionable. When reading them, I can easily grasp the information up to the minute. So I love magazines much more than novels and poems.

11. Good characteristics of good teacher. 06.3.3

Patient, expressive, speak and behave appropriately (teacher)

In my opinion, a good teacher should possess the following characteristics: First of all, the teacher must be patient and should not get angry or blame the students for their questions or mistakes. This would be helpful especially for those slow students to catch up with the whole class. Second, a great teacher should be expressive to teach effectively and efficiently. He or she is supposed to speak loud and clear and be able to put difficult things in a way that is easy to understand. Last, since a teacher is the role model for the class, a good teacher
                needs to speak and behave appropriately, in order to set a good example for the students.

The person I am gonna talk about is my roommate, I admire her very much because of her great characters. First, she never breaks her promise. (Last week, I asked her to pick up my cousin since I couldn’t come back. She did so even though she had caught a bad cold. I said thanks and sorry but she said it’s ok because she promised me). Second, she is very obliging. Whenever you are in trouble, she goes out of her way to lend you a hand. Third, she is considerate and shows much concern about others. She is always trying to look at things from your angle. (For example, knowing that I am taking a nap or reading books, she would turn off the CD player.)

 

Honesty: only honesty can breed trust and only trust can keep and further improve the relationship among people.

Subway system

In my opinion, subway is the most efficient transportation in my country. One great thing about it is its high speed. It moves much faster than buses, taxis etc. Besides, since there is no traffic jam in subway lines, it’s easy for you to make plans and schedules. But other vehicles running on the roads and streets are extremely subject to traffic conditions. What’s more, the subway system covers almost all the major parts of the cities, so it would be more convenient to go out by subway. (Lastly, compared to other means of transportation, subway charges much less and the price is reasonable for most of the citizens)

 

15. One of the most important inventions for the past 100 years.  06.4.28

Computer.

In my point of view, the most important invention for the past 100 years is absolutely the computer. We can have easy access to a huge amount of information on the Internet. The Internet is a vast ocean of knowledge in both natural sciences and social sciences. Besides, there are all kinds of entertainment on a computer.
            Listening to CDs, watching movies and playing PC games will help us relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. More importantly, we can make friends with many people by chatting with them online.
            Computer has made the communication among people much easier and more `fascinating.

In my point of view, my roommate and best friend bears the characteristics of a true friend. First, she is honest. Only sin`cerity can breed trust and only trust can keep and further improve the relationship among people. Second, she is very obliging. Whenever you are in trouble, she goes out of her way to lend you a hand.
            Friends are always the first ones we think of when we need help. Third, she is considerate and shows much concern about others. She is always trying to look at things from your angle and take care of your feelings. (For example, knowing that I am taking a nap or reading books, she would turn off the CD player.)

Ping pong.

The activity I’m gonna talk about is Ping pong, which is also known as table tennis. it is quite popular in my country. Almost everywhere has ping pong facilities and many people enjoy it. One great thing about it is that it can improve health condition,(enhance the ability to respond quickly) preparing us for any physical challenge in the future. Another point worth mentioning is the relaxation of the game. I mean, play ping pong, take a shower and have a rest. All of these can help us relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. In addition, this sport could promote friendship. Ping pong is the symbol for peace and harmony. I guess that’s why ping pong is the national ball of our country.

To Monument to People’s Heroes

Last October, our class went to the Monument to People’s Heroes. We stood in silent tribute for three minutes on the square in front of the monument to show our respect. And then the relatives of those who died in war addressed the participants there. After that, every one of us walked up to the monument of heroes, bowed deeply and put down a bunch of flowers. From what the teacher told us, I learned a lot about the history of our country in the past century. We wouldn’t have been able to live so happily and comfortably if it weren’t for the blood and lives of those great `martyrs(ə whose bodies were buried(e) under the monument.

In my point of view, good parents should possess the following characteristics: First of all, parents should be responsible and care about the children’s well being. They must do all they can to raise the kids and turn them into useful people to the society. Second, good parents are always patient and calm when children are making mistakes. They make the kids know right from wrong by treating them with kid gloves. Lastly, since the parents are the role models for the children, great parents need to speak and behave appropriately, in order to set a good example.

Whenever I want to relax, I hang out in the people’s park, which is located in the center of my city. One great thing about it is its picturesque view and enjoyable surroundings. Having a walk beside the lake, I can smell the grass and the flowers, hear the birds, and feel the breeze on my face. All of these help me calm down. Also I can make friends in the park, especially with those who come from overseas. During the conversation, the talking and the laughing can relieve my pressure from work and study. After spending some time there, I feel like my fatigue, stress and depression are all gone.

In my point of view, a good leader of a group should possess the following qualities. First, the interpersonal and communication skills. This could help the leader communicate with people outside the group effectively and co`ordinate the in`feriors efficiently. Second, foresight and the ability to see the big picture. As a leader, one should consider things in the long run as well as those in the current situation. Third, broad mind. A great leader must be willing to tolerate different opinions so that other individuals in the group will be glad to cooperate with the leader and happy to follow the orders.

I guess I like the film of drama better. One great thing about it is its wonderful stories, distinctive characters, and appealing plots. I usually devote myself into it and completely forget the real world. Also drama movies, especially love ones, always show us very romantic scenery, pictu`resque view and famous places of interest all over the world: Statue of Liberty, Eiffel (`aifəl) Tower, Pyramid and so on. I seem to make a trip by myself during the movies. More importantly, drama films utilize vast languages. I could learn a great many daily dictions, for example slang and dialogs, to improve my communication skills. (Lastly, drama films, those from overseas in particular, are good introduction about other customs, cultures, histories etc.)

In my point of view, students should do the following things. First of all, they have to finish the homework or assignment if any. Students should not forget that their most important job is always study. Besides, it is beneficial to have a rest and relieve the pressure from study for a while. Students can also have some physical exercise if they have the energy, like playing basketball, tennis, jogging, cycling etc. Finally, they could spend some time on their hobbies as well, such as playing the violin, collecting stamps, watching movies and so on. As you can see, there are plenty of things a student can do on vacation.

My bedroom

My favorite room is my bedroom, where I relax, study and play. My bedroom is fairly large and faces some trees and a lake. Open the window, I can smell the grass and flowers, hear the birds, feel the breeze on my face, all of these help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. Inside the room, I have a nice desk by my bed and a bookshelf beside the desk. There are all kinds of books on the shelf and I can reach them easily whenever I want to study. I’ve got a computer in the room too and I often enjoy myself by listening to CDs, watching movies, and playing PC games on the computer.

I like outdoor café or restaurant with the following features. First, it’s got to have a picturesque and enjoyable surrounding. I mean, after sitting down at a table, I can smell the grass and flowers, hear the birds, feel the breeze on my face. All of these help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. Another thing I care about is whether they’ve got any delicious featured food, like dishes, dumplings, noodles etc. After all we go to a restaurant primarily for the terrific food. What’s more, I think the service quality is also quite important. The waiter should be warm, patient and attentive to the customers.

Paris

I have never been to Paris but I hope I could be there someday. One great thing about Paris is that it’s got so many places of interest, Eiffel Tower, Louvre Palace,
        Champs Elysees Ave, you name it. Also I could greatly improve my French. With the language surrounding there, it’ll definitely be a lot easier for me to polish my speaking and listening skills. More importantly, I have several friends there, they all asked me to visit them and I also want to have a get-together with them so much.

Honesty

In my point of view, honesty is the most important characteristic in choosing friends. First, honesty is the vital part of moral integrity. If a person keeps telling lies all the time, he is not likely to be sincere and upright.
            I would avoid talking to him as much as possible, let alone make friends with him. Second, only honesty can breed trust and only trust can keep and further improve the relationship among people. If two friends do not trust each other any more, they are actually strangers now. In a word, being honest and sharing the true feelings with each other are the first and the foremost steps to establish friendship.

The experience I’m gonna talk about is a hard-won basketball game when I was in high school. Our team was thought to be the underdog because we were not only much shorter but also less experienced than our opponents. And that’s why it was so challenging. However, we didn’t chicken out or give up. Instead, we kept fighting hard with great determination. We played some excellent teamwork while our rivals all wanted to show their personal skills and tricks. So finally we won the game by one point. I guess courage and teamwork are the keys to our success.

Cooperativeness

In my point of view, the most important quality to be a team member is cooperativeness. I mean, a good team member should cooperate with both the leader and the other members of the team. Co`operating with the leader means following orders quickly and doing designated job effectively. This will contribute to the overall working efficiency of the team. On the other hand, cooperating with the other team members can prevent personal mistakes and bring everyone’s talent to full play. So, if every team member is cooperative, the team as a whole can be very strong and powerful.

I’m gonna talk about an essay I wrote last year about one travel to the west of my country. It was so important to me for the following reasons. One great thing is the relaxation. Writing can definitely help me relax and relieve the pressure from work and study. Also the literature materials I read have greatly improve my understanding of the culture, custom, history and many other interesting stuff about the west. More importantly, I made friends with the people who share the same love for travel and writing on a forum when presenting this essay. It is really exciting and unforgettable experience!
