关于语法,逻辑,读句子--分享我和美国外教的邮件

这是我的问题:hello,Mr.Park, here is a student of you.
i'll take the GMAT test that is the requirement of American business school and my tutor asks me to consult a native speaker about following questions. could you pls explain them to me.
1.what is the Grammar in your mind? because i have met a sample question which doesn't cater to the grammar rule but express the idear clearly and so that i begin to doubt what is real grammar in your mind?
2.what is critical reasoning?is it necessary to build a stimulus,an arguement and a conclusion?
3.how can you understand a complicated sentence quickly?such as this sentence:
A desire to throw over reality a light  that never was might give away abruptly to the desire on the part of what we might consider a novelist-scientist to record exactly and concretely the structure and texture of a flower .

Answer to question 1:  Grammar is the accepted standard use of a language by a society.  It is used to facilitate understanding among people so they can communicate with each other clearly and effectively.  Since English is a "living language" and is constantly changing, grammar rules will change over time.  Sometimes slang or colloquial expressions are used that do not follow the standard rules of grammar.  However, because the phrase is so common and popular, everyone understands what it means.

Answer to question 2:  Critical thinking (or Critical reasoning) is purposeful and reflective judgment about what to believe or what to do in response to observations, experience, or arguments. Critical thinking is important, because it enables one to analyze, evaluate, explain, and restructure our thinking, decreasing thereby the risk of acting on, or thinking with, a false belief.  There is no simple way to develop the intellectual traits of a critical thinker. One important way requires developing one's intellectual understanding and intellectual humility. One becomes less biased and more broad-minded when one becomes more intellectually understanding and intellectually humble, and that involves time, deliberate practice and commitment.

Answer to question 3:  Understanding sentences, especially complicated questions takes hours of practice reading English that was written by native English speakers English (not Chinese writing that was translated into English).  This sentence is a rarity and only used as a complex example.  It is not the usual wording of someone trying to communicate effectively.  (Remember the effective speaker principles?  We should use language that is clear, direct, appropriate, and vivid.  We should not try to hide our meanings in complex sentence structures.)
