Just finished TN-24-17, kinda messed  up on SC. Apparently, there are still some weakness in my SC knowledge. Really need to crack SC in the last days.

Would like to post two of my SC incorrect questions because they are kinda uncommon.

TN-24-17

17. GWD-26-Q17

Responding to the public’s fascination with-and sometimes

undue alarm over-possible threats from asteroids, a scale

developed by astronomers rates the likelihood that a particular asteroid or comet may collide with Earth.

(D)x

A.      a scale developed by astronomers rates the likelihood

that a particular asteroid or comet may

B.       a scale that astronomers have developed rates how

likely it is for a particular asteroid or comet to

C.      astronomers have developed a scale to rate how likely

a particular asteroid or comet will be to

D.      astronomers have developed a scale for rating the

likelihood that a particular asteroid or comet will

E.       astronomers have developed a scale that rates the

likelihood of a particular asteroid or comet that may

The only reason I didn't choose (C) is becasuse I thought "will" and "is to" are redundant. So I came up with a really dumb answer (D)

In 1981 children in the United States spent an average

of slightly less than two and a half hours a week doing

household chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six hours a week.

(C)x

A.      chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six hours

a week

B.       chores; by 1997 that figure had grown to nearly

six hours a week

C.      chores, whereas nearly six hours a week were

spent in 1997

D.      chores, compared with a figure of nearly six hours a week in 1997

E.       chores, that figure growing to nearly six hours a week in 1997

This is a tricky question. by glimpes, you can easily take out A, B and D, and they you will be struggling between C and D. but both C and D are incorrect

(B) is the answer. I guess if two sentences are separated by semicolon, they should be treated individually, so the past perfect tense is OK in the second sentence.

Anyone has any better idea?

All the answers I got are from TN-24, so they should be correct

Let see if Huhu has better idea.

Some answers in TN-24 are still uncertainty.

Only OG and prep have the absolutely correct answers.

isn't it??

OG11-44. The automotive conveyor-belt system, which Henry Ford
modeled after an assembly-line technique introduced by
            Ransom Olds, reduced
from a day and a half to 93 minutes

the required time of assembling a Model T.

(A)        from a day and a half to 93 minutes the

required time of assembling a Model T

(B)        the time being required to assemble a Model T,

from a day and a half down to 93 minutes

(C)        the time being required to assemble a Model T,

a day and a half to 93 minutes

(D)       the time required to assemble a Model T from a day and a half to 93 minutes

(E)        from a day and a half to 93 minutes, the time required for the assembling of a Model T

GWD1-Q2

By merging its two publishing divisions, the company will increase their share of the country’s $21 billion book market from 6 percent to 10 percent, a market ranging from obscure textbooks to mass-market paperbacks.

B. from 6 percent to 10 percent its share of the $21 billion book market in the country, which ranges

我的问题是,OG原句中的表述和GWD的正确答案好像啊,如果OG原句中的required time of assembling 改成the time reaured to assemble,是否正确呢?

The only reason I didn't choose (C) is becasuse I thought "will" and "is to" are redundant. So I came up with a really dumb answer (D) 不是的 这个题的C考的是be likely to 即:a particular asteroid or comet will be how likely to

(C)x

A.      chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six hours

a week they指代不清

B.       chores; by 1997 that figure had grown to nearly

six hours a week

spent in 1997

D.      chores, compared with a figure of nearly six hours a week in 1997 compare

E.       chores, that figure growing to nearly six hours a week in

Anyone has any better idea?

MMGWD1-2的正确答案是from 10 percent to 6 percent这题前面有讨论过 避免歧义 新prep上答案也是from 10 percent to 6 percent那一项
