年初一（求助）： LSE F&E VS Oxford MFE

我觉得在英国的话 这两个项目都能获得INTERVIEW的机会 包括那些最顶级的IB的INTERVIEW 但是能不能拿到OFFER还是要看自己的能耐了 我认识几个07年入学LSE的MASTER学生 最后拿到IB的OFFER的人 专业很宽泛 有读ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE的 有读MANAGEMENT的 还有读SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY的 所以能不能拿到OFFER还得看自己吧  

FE确实是LSE最难读的专业之一 想拿很高的分数很难 06年的FE专业 中国人有两个拿了DISTINCTION（平均70以上） 一个是清华的 一个是南京大学的 本科专业一个是学数学一个是学物理的 07年的FE我知道一个清华经管的MM拿了DISTINCTION 想留在LSE读PHD IN FINANCE很难 LSE的07年入学的PHD IN FINANCE有两个全奖的中国学生 一个是牛津数学系本科FIRST CLASS毕业 然后拿了牛津MFE的DISTINCTION的MASTER过来的 还有个是清华经济本科+硕士过来的  往年还有北大本科+LSE的FE的DISTINCTION的MASTER留下来的 总之留LSE的PHD IN FINANCE全奖 竞争很激烈 如果你的成绩数一数二 那还有希望

而对于回国来说 在业界 LSE和OXFORD的DEGREE同样也都够用了 LSE的FE不比OXFORD的FE在业界认可度低 但是能不能拿到OFFER 就要看自己的表现了

但是LSE在国内的名气和OX比 还是差满多的（仅指普通人中） 既然两个学位在英国找工作和在中国找工作的机会是均等的 我觉得很多人都会倾向于去OXFORD 毕竟回国大家都知道

当然到底哪个更适合自己 还是得自己考量 比如看看课程设置 哪个教授的东西自己更喜欢更想学等等 对于NETWORKING来说 不觉得LSE的NETWORKING比OXFORD的差 因为LSE太小了 你想认识人 你可以有大把大把的机会去认识其他系的人 而且LSE的文化就是大家在一起 很多话题就都是IB啊 BANKING啊 之类的 一开学 就会有大量的公司的PRESENTATION  你都可以报名参加 LSE的CAREER SERVICE是全英国做的最好的 所以这是LSE的氛围和文化  而OXFORD的话 你接受到的 是最传统的英国式教育 学院制对很多国人还是很有吸引力的 不过认识人方面 我觉得不如LSE 因为OXFORD很大很分散 基本上自己系的中国人还能认识 其他系的很少有机会认识了 还有LSE的生活方面 我觉得在LONDON这样的国际化大都市生活一年会精彩很多 牛津虽然生活单调 但离伦敦很近 可以常来 而且学院制的生活能体会的东西也很多

说的太多了 只是比较一下两个学校 可能有些不准确的地方 但仅供参考了 我想楼主已经倾向牛津了 只是在找别人的支持 坚定信念 我觉得不管选哪个都OK 以后回国OXFORD的名气会更大些

LSE更强的networking和金融学习氛围确实不同~这其实也是我最在乎的一点。

Oxford在国内大众中的认可度确实非同一般，但是多的10W 人民币确实还是个material difference.

家人说随便我选哪个，但是他们还是分成了两派~

哎~我也迷糊了~

您说，如果我去找企业要FUND会不会牛津更好用呢？

这届mfe的同学都很有意思的说

LSE 每年只要几个finance phd, it is a commitment

有本事拿到offer的话，应该都能有scholarship

呵呵，能拿offer可能就不缺钱拉，呵呵

是不是可以理解成如果将来一定会MBA，可能还是LSE好，因为将来反正有名校的牌子，LSE可以更大程度上提高专业技能，且能在伦敦锻炼。

但是如果将来不MBA了，还是牛津好，因为马上可以认识很多同学，积累不同领域的人脉，回来牌子也差不多了。

额，是啊是啊，我觉得PHD真的需要很大的勇气~

LSE拿高分肯定很难啊~

是相当的难

特别是mfeconomics项目，今年找工作形势太差，很多classmates都打算读phd了。。。所以只要提到钱的问题，大家都发疯了一样。

还好吧,就是cam+lse的数学经济系本科.

lombard street上随便拉一个hf混的人背景都比他牛,金融人才培养环境好,不见得这个人就多聪明.

1. How long have you wait for each offer since you submitted applications? Did you took any interviews to get admitted?
2. Would you please briefly introduce your background?

Here it is my background:
GPA: 85+; GMAT: 770; TOEFL: 113; Internships: Barclays Capital and HSBC; International Experience: ESSEC and Columbia Business School; References: one from Dean of the School and another one from Head of Finance Department.

Would you be able to give me a sense of how much chance I stand for getting admitted? If I am lucky enough to be an alumnus with you, I hope we will have more opportunities to discuss :-)

Yes, very very competitive! If you deliver a persuasive PS, you will hold a very good chance!

For Oxford MFE, the whole process lasted for two and half months and there was a telephone interview to let you demonstrate your interest and competency to the selectors.

For the LSE Finance and Economics, the time span is almost the same. But the only way you get to know your application status was the LSE for you system, which is much more inhuman and inconvenient from my perspective. The program did not give interview and decides solely on the application materials you submitted.
