请教remainder问题的解题思路

有没有人可以帮忙指导一下remainder 的问题。 每次遇到这种题都头大，不知有没有什么解题思路。
例题：  If n is a positive integer and r is the reminder when(n+1)(n-1) id divided by 24, what is the value of r?
    (1)  2 is not a factor of n
    (2)  3 is not a factor of n
