我觉得 in the form of carbon dioxide 是修饰的fungi啊，因为看意思不就是  在carbon dioxide的形式中么？那如果选C的话是修饰了plants么？那很说不通啊，如果修饰carbon的话，那么不是很重复？如果都不是，那就又成了修饰fungi了。

如果没有后面的in the form of carbon dioxide,其实A 的比较结构也没有错误。

对只有主谓（如果主语有定语成分，必须要that/those来指代），没有宾语的句子，因为没有宾语，
