E选项出现的短语as opposed to没有问题。

关于as opposed to和instead of：
引《牛津高阶英汉双解词典第6版》（缩印本）Page 1209：(written) used to make a contrast between two things （表示对比）而，相对于:
- 200 attended, as opposed to 300 the previous year.
- This exercise develops suppleness as opposed to (=rather than) strength.
a as opposed to b强调的是两者之间的对比关系，且a和b在语义上应该存在一致关系。

而D选项中的instead of是“代替；作为……的替换”，比如We just had soup instead of a full meal是说“我们没有吃全餐，只喝了汤”，言下之意有汤没餐，再如Now I can walk to work instead of going by car是说“现在我可以步行去上班，而不必开车了”，言下之意只步行没开车。a instead of b这个短语所暗示的其实只有a这单一对象，而b本身根本不存在或者说对原文主体意思没有任何影响（如第一句只说了喝汤这件事）

从语义的角度来考虑，原文其实想强调的是330和7两个数据的对比，330和7都是客观存在的值，并没有要留一个舍一个的意思，因此E比D表达更准确。

而且D还有一点小问题，就是把“the 7 per year required previously”放在句末以后，它和“the cost of higher education”之间的联系断掉了，不一定错，但是E比D清楚。

你说的是：他们俩在语法上一样。

如果这是一道逻辑题的话，我想这是无关选项。

既然他们俩在语法上一样，也就是说你不认为as opposed to对于这道题而言存在任何问题，你所支持D的唯一理由就变成了instead of有过正确记录而as opposed to一次也没有。可否举出一道具体的题目？

那我还想说，我翻遍所有答案，发现instead of出现在错误选项的概率比在正确选项的概率大，这怎么解释？

个人认为，现在所出的语法题很多时候没有很明显的语法错误，很多时候都要从整体意思上判断谁的更清楚、更有效，而不是选项中的哪个词见没见过，以前出现的时候对还是不对。
