答案是 E。  A答案 的 错误 在 与WHEN的 逻辑主是group,所以 对比不对称

我困惑的是 ，E答案中的 compared with的逻辑主是哪个 ，是group还是population?因为好像分词结尾逻辑主是主语啊 。还是这里省略了什么啊 。。。就要 考试了 ，这类题目还是 很糊涂 ，麻烦 了

按照分词在 句尾，逻辑主是 主句主的 原则的话，这里的 compared with 同样不是 正确的 答案啊 ，因为将group和 20percent做比较了 ，大家怎么 看呢 ？

分词短语作伴随不是应该修饰:

1.前句整体,or

2.逗号前最接近的名词

今天看 PREP前面说 ED结构就近修饰逗号前的名词

可后面又看到说 分词在 结尾用逗号断开，修饰的是就近主谓结构中的主，这不是矛盾了吗 ，谁 给讲下 ？

记得区分现在分词和过去分词。

在句尾时：逗号后面是过去分词优先做定语(不丢失做状语功能);逗号后面是现在分词，优先做状语(不丢失做定语功能)。

斑竹的意思是，过去分词的话，优先修饰逗号前的名词，但也可以和逻辑主配合。现在分词的话优先和逻辑主一致吗？是这个意思吗。赐教。。

正确选项带入题目，得到

In the United States, while the number of foreign-born residents and their children is higher than

ever, the percentage of the population they represent is not; in 1910 this group made up 35 percent

of the population, compared with  20 percent  in 2000.

　如果按照正常语序带入，得到in 1910 this group made up 35 percent (that is compared with 20 percent in 2000) of the population

这样应该可以明确得知compare比较对象是什么，也能回答LZ的问题了。
